I am a freshman and am in the midst of choosing classes. I know that I am interested in the life sciences, but in the past year, after taking an economics class, I have gained an interest in economics.

I know I will be taking Life Sciences 1a and a freshman seminar this semester. However, I am having trouble picking my last two classes. I thought I was going to take Math 21a and Ec 10, but I have heard that taking 3 problem set classes would be very stressful and time-consuming. However, I feel like if I don't take economics, I can't explore the field, and if I don't take Math 21a, I would be behind the curve in the life sciences and premed requirements (and maybe hinder my future progression in economics). It also seems like I would be delaying the inevitable since I would probably be forced to do this anyway spring seamster or in later years if I concentrate in the life sciences.

I have a couple other options: a gen ed class on health policy (or some other gen ed class) or german (since I haven't fulfilled my foreign language requirement yet). However, they changed the fl requirement so that students can fulfill it in 2 years; so, I could do that next year.

So, what do current or past students or others with experience on this subject think about the possibility / difficulty of taking these 3 p-set classes? And if that would not be a good idea, what do people think about my other choices? Does anyone have any experience with balancing life sciences and economics?
