My medical turnback son has his black boots that were issued for class of 2011. Should he bring those? (He has them polished so brightly they cause temporary blindness). He thought that the class of 2012 would no longer be using those and are issuing new ones to go with the new BDA’s. Any thoughts on this would be helpful.

First off, congrats to your son on coming back! You'll have to let us 3-digs know what squad he gets into, so we can help out a former classmate.

But no, he won't be wearing black boots up here. 2012 is just getting ABU's, and I'm not sure if he can wear black boots with ABU's. I'd recommend he just wait until the Ac year starts and ask someone then if he can bring them up.

No. I was told by the person who sent out the most recent letter that "you will be wearing the new ABU uniform and the new boots-just wanted
to let you know that." So I guess we can't bring them back. I'm sorry he went through all that trouble to shine them.

FYI the green boots that are meant to be used with ABUs are authorized with all utility uniforms. On the other hand with ABUs you can only wear the green boots and tan boots (until 2011 - the mandatory wear date for ABUs).

Sorry, but OLDS!!!!

Just had to do that. ;)

BlueSuiter, you are correct of course, but the Commandant has actually issued guidance stating that cadets are not (yet) authorized to wear ABU boots with any other uniform. Since the upper three classes haven't been issued ABUs, you won't see us with any ABU boots at all, at least not for the time being...
