Class of 2012

Yes. And the reason is that they do care. I am not saying I have dozens and dozens of extracurriculars. I am saying that Common App is a hindrance to me, and to other candidates. I know lots of kids who said "If only I had attached a CV". I do not want that to happen to me. Of course and they have the time. They will MAKE time for a candidate. It is an extra five minutes, and they take time. It's not an SAT essay scoring, where they just glance at your essay. They are much more anal-retentive. That is why I would exhort all of you who can, to send a CV. Ivies WILL make time for it, because they care..this is actually one of the questions I had and my counselor and that dean answered...

i just dont wanna regret it...

debate_addict, I think attaching a more comprehensive list of ECs is a wonderful idea but please make sure that the list is succint and clearly structurized!

How's everyone going? i've a two-weeks break now and at the end of my holidays i'll take the SAT... weird!

i'm a little bit disappointed... so far we're like only ~7 ppl for class of 2012! common where are you? Class of 2012!!!!!!!!

p.s. debate_addict we're probably heading towards the same major (although I'm not sure yet), do you haveve already an idea where you want to work after your studies? Academia, Industry, NGO's, etc.

yo debate! Go ahead mate! All the best!:) Yep I agree with the point that you shouldnt about regret something later!

Rister: I have my SAT on june 2nd. Class of 2012 will start trickling in around Sept-Oct. My major is aerospace/mechanical :D

I think I will have to read the previous posts since I missed out a lot, been really busy with my magazine ;)

Lol, you guys are so fun to be around!! :D
I agree with you completely Rister..if the list is not succinct and lucidly put together, it can just as well ruin your chances...that is why I have been working on my CV from the very beginning of the year!! But if it is well-put together and conveys ur passion and academic caliber, then it can also be your ticket in..

And I plan to work on an NGO at the beginning...or even better, work at the Greek Consulate in Boston..that is my internship for the summer (two months) and if i do good, I have a shot at being hired after my graduation!!
But on a long term basis, I wanna teach at a collegiate level!!

I was never and will never be into teaching :D

Aww, why not?
I love it. It is my greatest aspiration so far..teaching at an Ivy League!!

Well I am more inclined towards adventorous jobs. Astronuat, Pilot, Spy etc that sort of stuff ;)

WAIT A SEC
'Lol, you guys are so fun to be around!!' < what do you mean by you guys?! Me, christopher and w32 OR w32 and christopher OR.....damn its confusing..... :D :D :D

^^ well i'm with u ajayc i'm also not that much into teaching

I just dont have the patience to teach ;)

Thanks for your warm welcome!
I've just fooled around about 1 yr since '05 ( my HS grad date) and haven't paid enough attention to the application process. Then, I applied for Fall 07. As I was in a big rush and my SAT score is kind of poor, no wonder 8 out of 8 schools rejected me.. :(
In my first time, I didn't know much about app. process and I didn't have much friends to share the information nor ppl to ask for advice. But this time, I think CC will be a big help to me. I wish I've met CC earlier.
I think I will be undecided in my major as I don't know in which I can be fitted.
Again, How nice to meet ya all!!
Naidu & ajayc, this thread is really amazing. Though I have many posts left to read, I can't help wanting to say thanks you two for your thread!!

Thank you w32!!!

This year is lucky mate! 007 ;) We are all going to awesome colleges :D

Cheer!!!

I certainly hope so..the stress is killing me!

hehe the stress is already taking a toll on you? :D

bloody wait for the decision day ;)

I dont wanna know..
But I will be SOO busy next year with MUNs and stuff (+I have to organize one) that I wont even understand how time goes by!!

:D where are you going to apply ED?

Nowhere..
My top choice is Harvard and since it abolished its EA plan, I will instead go for regular. Actually, I will have more MUNs to add when I go regular, and I believe my chances will be better for regular action. Another issue is that I wont have my SAT II scores. In Greece, the dates are limited and I will take the IIs in November. So, bye bye EA deadline!! :D

where are you going to apply ED ajayc? MIT?

I guess I'll apply to Penn but I'm not sure yet... will visit many colleges after my graduation in fall :p

U graduate in fall??
I despise u!! I have to deal with an additional year of torment till i graduate (but i'm a masochist so I actually like that stuff :D)

MIT only accepts ED from domestic applicants. As an international you have to apply RD.

I'm not going to apply early at any place, because I'm not sure whether I'd manage to take all required tests by October. However, I don't necessarily need to know the decisions in mid-December. Since I'm liable to military service for half a year, I would be able to reapply if none of my desired schools accepted me. There's no pressure on me. :-D

well I am going to apply ED to brown JHU or HMC. :D

yeah danpo is right. I cant apply ED at MIT. Well most probably most of the colleges will abandon ED, Princeton has already announced it.

Most people consider HMC>MIT ;)

I can't visit colleges :( Its just too costly cant even afford the ticket :S

anyways we are going to have one hell of a time together! We have a year ahead the college admission process waiting for us :D

We might meet later after we get to US :)

Cheers!!!
