I still need to flesh out my actual choices, but here’s what I have so far, in no particular order:

George Mason

U of NC - Wilmington (I don’t think I could get into Chapel Hill)

Penn State

Coastal Carolina

U of Minnesota - Duluth (Although I’d much prefer the Twin Cities, I doubt I could get into that)

Iowa State (Probably my top choice at the moment - the campus looks phenomenal in pictures. Plus, their environmental science program is supposedly very good)

I want to do an interdisciplinary major combining neuroscience and gender studies, and interestingly enough, harvard is one of two universities in the country that offers this. So I guess my top choice is Harvard, and I can proudly claim that prestige was not the deciding factor.

Yale would be ideal but my EC’s are so weak…

Anywhere in the likes of Harvard/Stanford/Yale/Penn/Duke would be ideal.

BUT… as in GoodACTor’s situation, my EC’s are rather weak as well.

What do you guys consider weak?

Northwestern
Georgetown
Wash u
Notre dame
Reach school would be Columbia, but notttt happening

Rice
WUSTL
Tufts

Johns Hopkins

Those are my top choices so far, might be adding NU or Chicago.

Honestly, only UNC.

For the heck of it though, I’m considering applying to Duke, Wake Forest, and if my test scores go up enough, Columbia.

UNCW is my safety.

Emory, Cornell, brown, johns Hopkins, uchicago, uiuc, umich

I plan on majoring in economics but all i have on my list right now are reaches and maybe some matches. I really need some safety suggestions.

UPenn (ED, dream school)
Harvard (used to be my dream but i let it go so the pain of gettin denied wouldnt be so bad :P)
Princeton
UChicago
Williams
Brown

BC
UMichigan
UVA?
Villanova

??? I live in NY but I’m not sure what SUNY schools are good for econ

^ I’m pretty sure Binghamton is good for economics, but don’t quote me on that.

@yankees

I think I’ve heard that now that you mention it, the only problem is Binghamton is such a crappy location =/

I agree. All of the SUNYs except maybe Stony Brook and Albany are in undesirable locations in the middle of upstate NY. But those are the only schools that can be both financial and academic safeties for me.

Yeah I’ve looked at Stony Brook a little bit, I really don’t want to go to Albany since I live here already

My advice? Challenge yourselves! You’re only going to apply to colleges once, so GO BIG :D

1) Penn (ED to CAS!)
2) UChi (EA)
3) Northwestern
4) U of I at Urbana-Champaign
5) Stanford
6) Duke
7) Harvard
8) Yale
9) Georgetown
Random Safeties ie Loyola Chicago, Miami OH

After doing a thorough search of colleges that fit my needs and wants, I’ve come to this list, in no particular order:

U of NC at Asheville

Iowa State

Purdue

SUNY at Albany

George Mason

James Madison

Northern Illinois (although DeKalb looks a little sketchy)

Ohio State (for a “reach” school)

Ohio University (maybe)

I don’t have a desire to go to an Ivy League or prestigious college. I just want to find one that I feel most comfortable in.

For me, I am going to be the kid applying to many colleges, because I really just don’t know what I want yet, and want to have some options come April/May.

Currently (in no order).
SCEA Stanford (maybe)
UPenn (maybe ED)
Williams
Princeton (again maybe SCEA)
UMass Amherst
Carnegie Mellon
William and Mary
Northeastern
Boston College
Johns Hopkins.
Cornell (I don’t know why, but I feel I’m going to end up going here)
Harvard (for my guidance counselor, who worships it)
Bates
Wesleyan
UMich
UC Berkeley

I have the desire to get the best undergraduate foundation I possibly can to get me ready for graduate school and hopefully scientific research… Or Academia.

I see no point in applying to a school I don’t love, so I’ve got a few schools and fewer reaches, although my top schools I would give anything to attend:
In order:
- USC
- BC
- Notre Dame
- Georetown
- Pepperdine
- UW- Madison
- St. Olaf
- U of MN

Yup, so still hopelessly in love with MIT…
