Class of 2015 Architecture Acceptances

Has anyone made any decisions, yet? Most of the decisions and numbers are in now for us, and it’s pretty tough for my son to decide. Re-visits start this weekend.

@Capecodlady8 which schools is he stuck between??? And im waiting on a few of my top choices still!

Accepted: USC, Syracuse, VT, Sci-arc, Pratt with scholarship!!!
The $20000 scholarship from Pratt is a huge lure. Any comments on Pratt??

@renasun‌ i dont know about pratt that much but my art teachers friend went to Pratt for architecture and she said he lives in a huge house so… Its good lol

Got accepted into Rice! Still haven’t heard from Syracuse haha

@mollii4‌ nice!!! btw check ur spam folder in ur email, maybe its in there??

@thegrant I deleted my spam last Sunday hahah I wait for a mailed letter or somthing xD

Accepted to Carnegie Mellon

Hi got accepted at usc, rice and syracuse.
Syracuse has given a offer that is hard to let go of. What do you guys feel should be right choice.

@sandy42900‌ those are all sick, i have no idea how would u choose from those haha

Then help me choose, thegrant…

@sandy42900‌ i feel like Syracuse has one of the best all around programs, and ya know… its the #1 party school. I was talking to another student there and they said the architecture class size is around 110 kids( relative to other schools that seems pretty selective- cornell has a class size of around 60, Cooper Union has a class size of around 30)

Syracuse downside is that if ur at a bar 20 years from now nd u see a hot girl and she asks u where u studied, saying Syracuse would not seem nearly impressive as saying ‘USC’ or ‘Rice’ (which are top notch name throwers bro)

Syracuse also has cold weather which will make u cry, but its always ranked top 10 on Digital Intelligences list, which is VERY credible as a list for the top arch programs.

USC has the best weather and the hottest girls and probably crazy parties

Dont know much about Rice other than that its REALLY hard to get into

hope this helps

@sandy42900 I would look at each school’s website, and see what you can find about them from around the web. Look at student work and think about what kind of architectural work you want to be doing. Try and find what firms like hiring from which schools and definitely visit if you can. I can give you a bit more information on rice and usc if you pm me because I also applied to both of those. Congrats on getting into awesome schools!

I got into UT Austin, Tulane with scholarship, University of Minnesota with scholarship.
Rejected from Rice.
Still waiting to hear from Cornell and Cal Poly

@Katielovearchi‌ UMICH HAS CRAZY PARTIES! NICE!!

@sandy42900 persoanlly I’d choose USC because 1) cali is nicer than NY state and Texas 2) along with the AA, the Bartlett and SCIarc its a world leader in contemporary parametric design and digital architecture 3) its very prestigious and attracts great lecturers especially with alumni such as Frank Gehry and Thom Mayne

Hi,
Just to update, got accepted at Virginia tech .
So now choice is between

  1. syracuse ( generous sholarship)
    2)Rice ( none scholarship)
  2. Usc ( none)
  3. Virginia tech ( little)
    Still awaiting cornell.

Still need to re-visit schools, thegrant. It’s tough though. Each seems so different and has great offerings.

Strange about Pratt though. S was accepted almost two weeks ago and still no package. Contacted admissions and they said it was mailed this week. A bit hard to register for an Accepted Students Day without even knowing what the package looks like. Not happy about that and honestly it’s made me wonder about the place overall.

No merit at Syracuse, though generous grant. It could tip the scales for a different school which offered both. :frowning:

I didn’t think it would be this hard deciding. S still is undecided and wishes he could put Syracuse in a metro area like Boston or NYC. Any idea what it’s like there if you’re not a ra-ra sports student? We’ve visited twice in warm weather and it was pretty nice. Arch students were awesome.

More visits down to the wire. Good luck everyone. Please post or private message where you choose!
