Class of 2015: College Lists

@BeStillMyHeart‌ You live in NC as well? I’m also applying to State but I didn’t bother putting that down because I don’t think I would go there even if I were accepted.

@cw1114‌ Yes, I live in NC. I would go to NC State only if I’m rejected by all the others. It’s a good school, but almost everyone I dislike wanna go there. Plus I live 10-15 minutes away…

The College of New Jersey
Rutgers University
Stony Brook University (SUNY)
University of Delaware
New York University
Fordham University
Boston College
Boston University
Tufts University
Brandeis University
Northeastern University

As you can see, I really loved Massachusetts!

Top choices are Boston College and Tufts

I’m hoping to be pre med at these schools:
Tufts (goal)
Duke (goal) (may apply ED)
Northwestern (goal)
UChicago (goal)
Harvard (reach) (may apply SCEA)
Columbia (reach) (may apply ED)
UT in Austin (safety)

@nickb14‌ great schools! I have two Massachusetts schools myself! I also have two in upstate New York, one in Long Island, three in my home state of New Jersey, two in Connecticut, and one in Florida.

I assume you are a fellow New Jerseyan?

CT life best life

@lbad96 I am a fellow New Jerseyan!!

@nickb14‌ New Jerseyans represent!!! What’s your top choice?

Oh wow… Everyone is applying to so many schools lol.

So far I only have 2 on my list, George Mason (safety) and UVA. I’ve known for awhile where I’ve wanted to go to college I’m just not sure at all what I want to major in, which is ultimately the most important part but eh, I’ve got time (which is what I’ve been saying for the past 4 years o_o).

MIT

Harvard

UChicago

Cornell

Boston University

Northeastern University

Reed College

UC Berkeley

University of Maryland College Park

University of Minnesota Twin Cities

Brandeis University

Boston College

University of Michigan Ann Arbor

Binghamton University

Ohio State University

After number 8 it is really hard to rank by preference. If I end up getting a 2300+ on the SAT and get 800s in Math 2, Physics, and Chemistry I might consider Magdalen College @ Oxford if my parents happen to become rich.

My intended Major is Physics with a Math Minor, since if I want to do stuff in Physics I will need a lot of Math.

Also, before a couple months ago I tried to keep this list to 10 schools but I needed more safeties/matches and a lot of schools looked interesting.

Oxford has financial aid that is relatively competitive with the colleges on your list. Also, they care a lot about AP Scores

I don’t think they give out much aid to international US students. I don’t have much to say with respect to Math/Physics related APs (yet) but it said SAT Subject Tests also count. Oxford was a university I cared about a couple years ago but not really anymore.

UCLA

CPSLO

Cal

UCSB

UCD

CSULB

CPP

For ME

The University of Oxford offers no financial aid or scholarships to undergraduates, with some very small and particular exceptions such as Organ Scholarships for people who audition to play the organ in their college’s choir.

EU citizens are eligible for loans that cover their university tuition, but the OP doesn’t appear to be an EU citizen.

Matriculated students at Oxford may apply for small bursaries and grants if they need money urgently, depending on whether their college offers financial support or not, but by the time they become eligible for those grants they would have paid their university and college fees, housing deposit, rent for at least a couple of months, etc.

By and large, an American undergraduate at Oxford would receive no financial support of any kind regardless of his or her financial need.

Update (in rough order of preference):

 1. North Carolina
 2. Alabama
 3. Florida
 4. Duke
 5. Georgia
 6. Southern Cal
 7. Michigan
 8. Ohio State
 9. Florida State
 10. Maryland-CP/UVA/Penn State

@Ghostt‌

I was referring to scholarships related to Oxford, i.e Alumni and stuff, which is large enough that it can further mitigate Oxford’s low tuition [as compared to Harvard, Yale, etc.]

For undergraduates there are none.

In order:

 1. MIT
 2. Stanford
 3. UC Berkeley
 4. Harvard
 5. Purdue

Purdue’s obviously my safety.

In no particular order:

 1. Yale
 2. Pomona
 3. Harvard
 4. Carleton
 5. UMichigan
 6. University of Maryland-College Park (in state)
 7. Stanford
 8. Bowdoin
 9. NYU
 10. Columbia
 11. Brown
 12. UC-Berkeley

UPenn

Babson

Boston College

Brandeis

Williams

Baruch

Bentley University

Villanova

Howard University

SUNY New Paltz

This is a rough order of preference. Aka very rough. It’s more tiered I guess. [ 1-3 ] then [4-8] then 9/10 are safeties bc financial aid/merit aid and my stats are qualified for the school. Also Northeastern is somewhere in here. I need to narrow this down to 8.
