I know all the materials say Dec 25th for Early Action. Has anyone heard yet?

I noticed at least 2 applicants in my D’s high school were notified already.

When it was her turn, my older D got her acceptance letter in the mail right on Xmas Eve.

It’s only a few more days, don’t sweat it.

thanks Mind explosion… not sweating… just curious. I know we are getting close… I will be shocked if my son does not get in but more curious about merit. Was just curious if they hold tight to the Dec 25th date or if they send them earlier. Kind of depressing if you don’t get accepted and get it Christmas eve! lol… Wishing you all a joyous holiday season. :)

Happy Holidays to you and your family as well… checked our US mail this morning and we were a little disappointed ourselves it didn’t come today…

I think SJU mails everything so that it gets there by the 25th, so I think this would be THE weekend they make that last run to the post office!

When my D applied four years ago, she got a merit scholarship for $12,500 … she was a very good student, but not a pre-Med or pre-Law candidate or anything like those kids who have a 4.0 and 1400 SAT. Plus, the ‘merit’ award was based on her getting a 3.20 GPA once enrolled there to be able to keep it … so that adds a little stress … (she did not choose to attend SJU).

My youngest D does love the school and its her #1A choice

My daughter is a sophmore (and loves it). Her best friend works in admissions and she told my daughter that she just put my son’s acceptance letter in the envelope. This was Thurs. I believe. Not my son’s 1st choice but applied anyway.

Got it today. Presidential Scholarship (17 a year). Not what I was hoping for but congrats to anyone who got accepted!

I’m also from South Jersey so for those of you in different parts of the country you will hopefully get it tomorrow.

Anyone know how/when applicants accepted into the honors program are notified? Were they notified in the acceptance letter?

Hi, lefty1, I just got my acceptance letter in the mail today, as did many of my friends and classmates so it should hopefully be soon or within the next couple of days! Good luck!

Got it today. North Jersey. 14K a year scholarship. Nice.

Acceptance letter didn’t mention my D’s intended major, though.

Got Son’s yesterday in the mail. $14K a year! Still a bit pricey even with the scholarship but we were happy he at least got that. Still have a few more decisions to get back but St. Joe’s it still high up in the running. :)

If there wasn’t a red envelope in the mail today (we are in MA), does that suggest bad tidings on an acceptance?

Received red envelope today - also 14K award. I have two questions and would love to hear from all of you - I’m from the northwest (WA State), small town and wondering what it would be like at SJU for someone from that distance to make friends or is SJU more of a suitcase school. Also my mother is Catholic, my Dad is Jewish, I’m not alligned with either, will I fit in or feel left out? BTW my mother and her family is from the Phil. area, lots of roots there. Any thoughts on the dorms?

^^ Wow, that’s a long way to travel to go to school. As I said above my daughter is a sophmore at SJU. When she was looking at colleges in HS she didn’t even want to apply to St. Joe’s. She was applying to most of the catholic schools in the NE - PC, Fordham, Loyola, etc.

My wife has family in Phila. and thought it was a school she should consider. She had applied EA like most of her schools but refused to visit. In the spring of her senior year we told her to go visit. She spent the day following someone - “Walk with a hawk”. Halfway through the day we saw other students that were there visiting making their way back to their parents where we were to meet them. No sign of my daughter. I finally texted her and asked her what was going on. She wrote back - “This is where I want to go!” You could have knocked me over with a feather.

She fell in love with the school and is doing great. She’s a double major - English/Spanish with a minor in Poli Sci. She’s involved in things and has made some great friends. While it is a regional school and lots of kids are from nearby i would not call it a suitcase school. AT least she hasn’t mentioned it. In fact, kids that live very close don’t go home.

The fact it is a Catholic school should not worry you. It’s there if you want it and nothing is jammed down your throat. You do have to take 2 religious courses for your core - 1 Catholic, 1 in a different religion.

The school is not in the greatest of areas but nothing to worry about if you use common sense. The campus is basically split down City Ave. One side of campus is Phila. the other Merion PA.

I believe there are 4 freshman dorms. Villiger, was just opened last year and obviously is very nice. My daughter stayed at McShain which is also a very nice dorm. Almost looks like a castle from the outside The other two are older and very non-descript. Your basic dorm.

Lot’s of school spirit for a smallish school and Basketball is big even though they haven’t been very good the last few years. The games are a great environment.

My daughter was accepted in Dec with a Presidential scholarship of $17,000 per year. I really liked the school and found the students to be the most friendly of all we visited. She was a bit concerned about the area. We will have to see how the finances work out with the other schools. Congratulations to all accepted!!

Dear Tellch00, Thanks so much for the thoughtful reply. Not so worried about distance since most applications have been on the east coast including 3 schools in PA. At least Philly is more convenient than our S who is at Cornell and flies out of Ithaca. Will visit St Joseph’s and see what falls out.
