Yes, the only thing left intact maybe our sense of humor!

I lost that a couple of months ago entertainersmom but I’m sure I’ll get it back around the month of May.

I was feeling very hostile about the convoluted process and multitude of variations each school wanted. My other realization was that this major is not for students and families who don’t have resources such as money, access to the internet, etc. etc. I know that covers many other educational pursuits, but I think about those talented students who have many barriers that my son is lucky to not have before him.

Hi all…been living over in the Drama thread but decided to see what was happening over here and I have been thoroughly enjoying all of your posts. My D is a 6’ redheaded, freckled, blue eyed actor who has just started singing. She is applying only for BFA in acting programs and this process has been daunting to say the least. All our apps are in and all auditions booked except SUNY Purchase…Good luck to everyone :)

Welcome bisouu! Best of luck to your D and congrats to her and you for getting all the “stuff” in.

I do still have my sense of humor left, its about all I have left at this point!

I’ve thought of that often as well entertainersmom . . . the year my daughter auditioned I was sitting in the halls at Chicago Unifieds fulfilling my roll as a “schlepper” and I overheard a girl talking about how she rode a bus from (inaudible) and she and her friend were staying at a hostel. It seemed to me that she was probably on this journey on her own, and on a shoestring budget . . . I often wondered where she ended up.

I remember her!

She did end up somewhere she was happy with in the end. Don’t recall where, though.

Rats! My S received an email from Baldwin Wallace, he is guaranteed a seat for their production of Carousel but I am not This production is in their smaller theatre and its in the round, many shows are already sold out. At least he’ll get to see it for sure, we love this musical. One of his very close friends (sophomore at CCM) played Julie Jordan a few years ago…made me cry.

Hey…I’ve been waitlisted! lol

MTMC, too bad it’s not like community theatre and you can’t volunteer to usher. I see a lot of shows that way! :)

MTMAJORCOOK-The same thing happened to my Husband for D’s B-W visit on the 16th.

Sometimes tickets become available at the last minute, so keep your fingers crossed and pray to Rodgers and Hammerstein or something. I guess it’s more important for the kids to see the production, but it would be cool to see that show in a small in the round setting.

MTMajorCook, speaking of R&H productions, did you guys get to the playhouse to see Point Park’s Oklahoma? It was very, very well done.

frazzled - 16th seems like a great day to be there, I bet its busy. My S couldn’t do the 16th he has a camp he has to attend so we were happy the 15th was an option. I LOVE everything I know about BW at this point!

Collegesearchdad - I agree, I wish I would’ve purchased tickets when he scheduled the audition. Sadly we didn’t get to see PPU’s Oklahoma, my S picked up extra days a work that conflicted with the show times/days.

He was also supposed to see CCM’s Singing In The Rain this weekend but something came up and now can’t make that trip. His friend sent pictures of her in costume though, she looks fantastic.

We’ll still get to see Wright State’s Oklahoma next week and he’ll see Carousel. I need to check Rider’s schedule for December 13th/14th, I can’t believe I didn’t do that already ahhagh!

Wright State’s Oklahoma was on our radar too… Colin has Friday off school so it’s a nice long weekend. It would’ve been perfect…until the HS drama director scheduled an all day rehearsal for the play. It is hard to balance living in the present while trying to make plans for the future.

And of course we probably all have kids that want to audition for every show and work every extra hour that they can and auditions are closing in and we’re so concerned that they won’t be ready!!! Of course they will be, but our nerves will be shot in the process!!!

And mine wants to trick or treat tomorrow LOL

I cannot keep track of all these little bits and pieces for every supplement required. I am going nuts! Headshots, no headshots, 2 artistic letters of rec, one artistic letter, resumes, essays, goal statements UGH…If this process doesn’t make one a drinker I will be surprised!

bisouu, I finally did a spreadsheet for that and prescreen requirements. Right now I feel like we’re at a standstill since the applications are in and auditions haven’t been done yet. The spreadsheet made me feel productive since my daughter decided to be uber organized and do everything herself. (Not that I’m a control freak or anything… LOL)

Aw, you guys, this is almost making me nostalgic…ALMOST. I’m not remotely an organized person–tend to carry everything around in my head–but even I had to resort to spreadsheets, folders, giant dry-erase calendars, and lengthy lists. (Throughout my son’s senior year, I was also coordinating a major addition to my house–ca-ching–and helping my daughter plan her wedding–double ca-ching). A couple of weeks ago, I finally let myself purge most of the paperwork and spreadsheets from my desk and computer. My double-sided folders with cover sheets for each school–into the recycling! Very cathartic! I did keep the main spreadsheet, as an example for students/parents, but let go of the travel plans, the monologue requirements, and the dreaded recommendation list (that DEFINITELY required its own spreadsheet)! It’s a lot like childbirth, y’all–while the memory of the pain fades, nothing will ever seem so difficult again–and the outcome makes it all worthwhile!

I still remember child birth pretty vividly, I offered to pay cash for a C-section at around 3 centimeters LOL

MTMajorCook, Ha Ha!
