On a happy note, D was just cast in Our Town in the role of the Stage Manager. She is ecstatic. She had been prepping for weeks. (wish she would do the same with her monologues )

bisouu - Son is constantly singing the audition song for the school musical for which the auditions will be held after the holiday break! Guess it is a good sign our kids have a “balanced” approach to this crazy process.

Bisouu, last year I never saw my son practicing his monologues, but that was the “artistic” component and he was in charge of that. A lot of my friends have reported that their kids don’t want to subject their monologues to mom and dad’s approval. Just remind yourself, it’s not your problem. That will be good practice for next year.

Bisouu. Congrats! My D was up for Stage Manager for our school’s fall play too and I am pretty sure the Director had her in mind for it all along but she did not want stage manager. She wanted Emily. She had to do the “Goodbye World… Goodbye to clocks ticking and coffee and freshly ironed dresses…” mono for the callback and she just left it all on the stage. The director cast her as Emily after seeing how her heart was in that!
But I digress… My point was that stage manager is a really interesting part. There’s so much there to work with. Wonderful language. It will make great interview conversation for your D too!
If our girls ever meet up they can do an Our Town scene. Lol.

Bisouu- congrats to your D on her new role!

Our D just got a rejection email from Indiana. It was polite and professional. It came exactly one week after submitting the materials, FYI.

Can anyone help us with response times and methods for some other schools?

Baldwin-Wallace
Carnegie Mellon
FL State
Ithaca
Montclair
Shenandoah
Westminster/Rider
Wright State

Thanks in advance.

What are you trying to figure out cheeseheadmike? For Baldwin Wallace decisions were mailed out this week and they’re also being mailed out next week.

Ithaca prescreens - they seem to be looking at them according to the audition date requested.

Shenandoah prescreens - about a week it seems.

That’s all I got!

Thanks, GSOMTMom.

Let’s just say that we’re impatiently waiting for responses, if you know what I mean.

That, and I’m trying to get rid of that nagging feeling that we’ve let some important detail slip through the cracks.

^^I hear ya. I’ve already lost the teeny bit of patience that I had when this process started!!! Is it March yet?! :-)

Freaking out since I haven’t sent in my prescreens yet. I’m still on target for deadlines, but I really hope all the appointments aren’t all gone by the time I submit. I would have done them earlier, but things got pushed back after a car accident. Just venting my concern!

Going to Staples today to buy large manila envelopes. My plan is to create some organizational system for my husband and son who will be at the Chicago Unifieds without me :(. This will also give me an opportunity to check, re-check details. I’ve missed a couple things along the way, luckily nothing catastrophic, but that nagging fear continues.
All auditions are scheduled, four for the NYC Unifieds, five for the Chicago Unifieds which should allow time for walk-ins if son is so inclined. Son has one audition under his belt, and two others scheduled on-campus.

We still haven’t put up the X-mas lights and will be outside today in the sub-zero windchill stringing lights before the +foot of snow comes tonight! Forget the Christmas cards getting written or sent, and gift cards or cash will be under the tree for the relatives this year!!

Personally I’m glad the waiting and anticipation for the audition crush to begin is almost over. I think my son has a chance, and this has been a great experience even if my mental processes have gone to pot. Let’s get 'er done!!!

Entertainers mom - I’m right there with you on the whole Christmas prep thing! We received our first card in the mail a few days ago when it hit me that I’d totally forgotten to do them. And outside lights? Not happening this year. I feel accomplished that the inside is done. I don’t think it’s unreasonable putting our children’s futures ahead of decorations!

No outside decorations happening here. Hubbie in Africa. Inside decorations are at half…good enough, right? Doing cards today, I think. Still finishing up apps. 3 to go.

Entertainers mom. Someone else here on CC recommended getting a two pocket folder for each school. In the folder you keep all important paperwork for the school, including print outs of whatever is emailed to you. On the inside flap of the folder you write down all passwords and ID numbers you have for the school.
I have all my folders in a portable file box. When it is time for the audition you take the folder for the school and off you go. It’s a pretty good system.

I second the recommendation about the two pocket folders. That’s exactly what I used last year in this process (son applied to 15 schools)…it makes it very easy and even neatly stores all travel info on one side too. I simply tucked the file into my travel luggage and had everything in one spot. I kept them in a portable file box and still can’t bring myself to get rid of them a year later…it was such a big part of our lives LOL.

I do have folders in an organizer next to the laptop. I wanted something more concise for husband and son, a one sheet pertinent info type of thing. I won’t be in Chicago so I want clear communication in my absence. The Chicago schedule will actually be fairly easy compared to the compressed schedule my son will have in NYC due to one of the auditions being held on-campus in lower Manhattan. As I write I realize I’m over thinking and finding something to fret over!

Haven’t done any decorating inside, that would meaning clearing the “MT Central” clutter out of the living room!

Man, we are all living parallel lives. I’m looking at a kitchen island and table with almost no space left. Last night my wife lamented that we don’t even have a tree up - and then just as quickly said maybe next year. We used to put up 4 trees. Christmas cards aren’t even a possibility.

What she did do is buy a 3" D-ring binder. Into this she built a separate section for each school, all alphabetized and organized. We’ve got an hour-by-hour schedule spreadsheet for Chicago Unifieds and a master calendar with the entire schedule stretching out to mid March.

She finally took a break and went shopping last night. Balance has been restored to the universe. Guess I’d better put up a tree today.

No tree here yet either - but my husband did hang half our outdoor lights! (I think he’s planning to do the rest today!) Shopping? I’m so behind on that. It’s not even funny.

I think I am giving gift cards this year…no shopping for us either. My son who is away at college put up our tree when he was home on Thanksgiving break. Pretty Sad.

Oh Amazon Oh Amazon you make shopping so easy…
Oh Amazon Oh Amazon you wrap and ship too?
I have a broken leg so my Christmas shopping was saved by Amazon. 45 minutes and I had presents selected, wrapped and shipped to 9 relatives in 4 different locations.
Amazon Prime is worth every penny, especially when you have a college student.

dramamom0804, you are my inspiration, lol!! You are on this wild ride with a boot! I love Amazon Prime too. Need two Shakespeare plays? At the door in two days, free shipping!

The temperature is only up to 14 degrees, so phooey on the outside lights. We bought a wreath, wrapped it with lights, found wire ribbon in the basement and used duct tape to hold the bow in place, priceless :)
