As if I don’t have enough to worry about…What happens if the auditors can’t leave Chicago to get to LA for Unifieds??!?!? Thanks @halflokum [-O<

Shoot! Never thought of that. I’ve been more focused on kids and parents.

:-S

I never thought of that either bisouu. LA starts on the 8th right? I would think they could get there by then and some aren’t in Chicago I would imagine they are coming from the states their university is in?

@bisouu Oh come on!!! You are outing me for this!!! (And not the D?.. don’t). The auditors have a buffer in between. Some have to get to Las Vegas first. The others are probably so sick of snow that if they have to walk to LA to see the sun, they’ll do it. Don’t worry.

LOL @halflokum!!!

The snow should stop tomorrow afternoon/evening. They’ve got time! And in with halflokum, after this biting cold weather, they will walk, crawl or skip to get to LA!

Flights are already being cancelled at Midway and O’Hare, but there is a built in buffer there, so I would imagine that they’ll be able to get out by Thursday at the latest.

I’m ready to “walk, crawl or skip to get to LA” too but instead am waiting for the next snow storm to hit (any minute now). On a much happier note, D just found out today that she has been cast as Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof. It seems especially appropriate as the last show of her high school career since she got her first taste of theater almost exactly 11 years ago as the youngest daughter in Fiddler! Hopefully it will distract her from worrying about those March acceptances/rejections. BAL to everyone at Unifieds and for those going to LA, bring back some sunshine please!

@Amotherslove, nice full circle completion. Fiddler is one of my favorite shows for a high school to mount and that’s a great part. Mazel tov!!! (Felt fitting.)

The march to March… Tom Petty said it best, “the waiting is the hardest part.”

AMothersLove, what a coincidence, my daughter was just cast as Golde in Fiddler. I agree, it will be a nice distraction for them. Tell your daughter to BAL!

@LoveMyMTGirl - Thank you and BAL to your D also!

Just ordered a slew of tickets for my daughter’s last HS musical!!! Feels quite strange. She will be playing Rona Lisa Peretti in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

OK, I need an opinion. An interesting thing happened to our D at Chicago Unifieds. One of the schools (I won’t say who) called my wife into the room when D was done and expressed their enthusiasm about her resume and abilities. They seemed to have offered her a position on the spot, saying “We’ll hold a place for you if you want it, and we’ll get you more money.” Seems pretty clear cut, right?

I’ve read other CC stories about kids getting enthusiastic audition feedback that never turns into and offer, but this was in front of my wife, adult to adult. D really liked the auditors and likes the program, but she’s afraid to get her hopes up.

The question is this- do we ask for a written offer or wait to see what happens? We are scheduling a campus visit, but we can’t go for a few weeks.

I would wait for the official offer. It should come or be reflected on the status website, if they have one, soon.

That’s my instinct as well. Don’t want to be too pushy.

I’m getting my ticket list together as well S will be play Benjy Stone in My Favorite Year.

S is auditioning as a dancer today for summer stock. I’ve missed so many Fridays for college auditions I asked my dad to take him (S doesn’t like driving on the highway yet or getting around the city, he’d rather take the bus) I told my dad to wait for S to call because I thought it would be over around 12 but I wasn’t 100% sure. S knows the theatre district well and could find a place to eat or have coffee while he wait. So…my dad decides he can’t wait and now he’s sitting outside the theatre, probably rumbling that its running late…ANWAYS. He saw a person come out of the theatre and said “hey buddy are try outs finishing up” :)) S will crawl in a hole when he hears that :))

cheeseheadmike, the exact same thing happened for my daughter’s friend at her Hartt audition. And she was accepted and did receive a scholarship!

cheeseheadmike, my son also got an on the spot acceptance…

@cheeseheadmike- same with my daughter at unifieds-and as excited as we are about this particular program, we are going to wait until we see it in black and white-especially the part about the $$.

That is so awesome to hear the same news from you all. Such a relief, right? The school that offered her a spot had already accepted her academically with a $10,000 scholarship and said that they would get more. I hope to get a formal letter sooner rather than later. I really don’t want to have to sell a kidney to pay for college.

All in all, unifieds were a great experience for her (and mom). She had one awful audition on Saturday, a couple of meh auditions where she didn’t feel a sense of “fit”, and about a dozen where she felt great. I could tell that day by day she grew more confident and relaxed.

Three more out of state auditions and we are done!
