Class of 2018 (yikes!) - Sharing,Venting, Etc

I think on-the-spot offers like that are rare, but they do happen. It happened to my son last year at one of his on-campus auditions. Sure enough, the letter came, just like the department chair said it would. It’s good to always be cautious about such things, I think. We got away and started second-guessing what we had heard…did he really say THAT? Did he mean that to be a REAL offer? Feels good when it happens though!!!

I agree its good never to count your chickens before the hatch but I would bet its a “real” offer. S was cut from the CLO dance call yesterday, he’s glad he went though. He thought it was great experience. Today he auditioned for the WV Public Theatre’s summer stock as a singer and got a call back from them so tonight he dances. Fingers crossed!

@mtmajorcook does your S ever stop moving? BAL to the busy bee…

AWESOME MTMC!!! And,no, MIke, he doesn’t! Hearing his schedule tuckers me out! LOL

No its absolutely rediculous sometimes! A few years ago I thought he would burn himself out with this “activity” but its only gotten worse. Lucky for me one of my BFFs is available and we’re going to dinner and cocktails during the dance call.

One school left to audition for tomorrow and my daughter is finished…had a wonderful audition experience with Montclair and Purchase today…came out smiling which is always a good sign.

Yay Bisouu!! You two must be having a great time. Break a leg to your D!!
PS. Son loved his Montclair audition for MT

I have been glued to the weather reports for several days now watching this giant storm sweep across the south and soon up the coast. Prayers go out to any and all who have to try and make auditions this weekend. BAL!

We are from NJ and D has her Elon audition on Friday. We were planning to drive down to the school. I am anxiously watching the weather reports (and email). Good grief!

I am also weather-watching for my S’ audition at Indiana – not sure we’re going to make it out of Boston to Indianapolis (via DC) on Friday morning…and he has a sore throat to boot!

Drive safely, sydism. It’s supposed to snow tonight and into tomorrow morning. When would you be planning on driving? Tomorrow? If you can delay it a bit, I think it’s turning into rain. Be safe!

Right now the roads are horrible here in Greensboro, NC, sydsim. And I hear it’s heading your way. It’s supposed to continue through tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully the roads will be clear. Be safe and keep in contact with the school.

I’d be really surprised if that Elon audition takes place…keep us posted, sydsim, and be safe!!

Over the next 10 days my d and I are headed to Hartt (Friday) boco (Saturday) plymouth state (Tuesday) Potsdam (Friday the 21) and Potsdam (Saturday the 22). Right in the path of this and the next storm. Like most stage performers she is much better in person than on video so we really want to avoid recorded auditions if at all possible. I’ve contacted the wonderful people at hartt and fortunately they are willing to work with us over the following week. I think I sounded reasonable desperate/persistent without sounding manically panicked. If you’re in a similar situation, reach out to the school and see what their workaround strategies are.

Still watching! It’s a snowy/sleety mess here in Jersey. We were thinking about leaving late this evening or in the middle of the night, but we are still on the fence. Haven’t heard anything from Elon yet. I know that there were no classes yesterday or today, but I will call later on and hopefully speak with someone, as well as email. Ugh!

American is also closed today. And now my car is acting up. D is ready to take a hot air balloon there if she has to while H and I are thinking the universe is trying to tell us to just stay home!

Elon is closed today as is nearly everything else. Cars abandoned on the highway in Raleigh which is east of Elon. The temps are supposed to get up to the 40’s tomorrow, but I’m with Times3 and highly doubtful that the audition will take place tomorrow.

I’d call Elon, or have your D call Elon, and ask if auditions are still taking place and also ask if they can reschedule. The roads are horrible.

The problem with calling these schools is that there very likely isn’t anyone there to answer the phone, but it doesn’t hurt to try. Hopefully Elon and all other affected schools will be kind/smart enough to send out an email to all of their auditioning students. With all of the airport issues even non snowy areas are being affected.

AMothersLove, true–what about emailing though? People can access their emails from home. I mean, they definitely should send an email out, but it never hurts to ask.
