@Beau15 Where in Michigan have you traveled?

I know two people who applied a couple of years ago and their stats were almost identical except one person had a 35 ACT and the other had a 33 ACT and was Asian. The 35 ACT guy was rejected and the 33 ACT guy was accepted BME so I have no idea how Hopkins does their holistic admissions. I’m also sure the 35 guy is a better writer too…lol kind of makes me nervous.

hopkins admitted someone from my school last year who had a 4.2/5.0 WGPA so around a 3.6/4.0 GPA and a 1900 SAT and mediocre class rigor… not a legacy or billionaire either lol so yeah i don’t really understand their thought process

@nehc97 Yeah their decisions process is a real mystery to me :/

I’m really nervous and excited regardless. I love how Hopkins seems to view their students as a whole, with less emphasis on test scores and more on GPA, extracurriculars, and recommendations! Very cool!

44 hours!

@Willyxyz Same! When I visited last summer an admissions officer said “standardized test scores count more than you’d like but less than you’d think” and he also said that last year they rejected half of the perfect sat score applicants. [-O<

yo guys! i’m a current freshman at hopkins and i wanted to say good luck, don’t freak out, and whatever happens, life doesn’t end at your bachelors degree. i know how you feel - although I applied ED elsewhere last year, i didn’t get in and things worked out in the end. so relax and don’t worry about your applications at this point, whats done is done.

also, feel free to ask any questions, i’m procrastinating for my finals :)

@singanddance mostly lansing, port huron, detroit, and troy. you from around there?

@hopper1234 hey! Thanks for the vote of confidence! The only thing is you probably applied ED to Yale or something and now you’re at Hopkins, which is still phenomenal lol

@singanddance let’s hope they look at my GPA with more intent than my test scores…2 more school days to get through now! 8-|

At this point, I don’t even know what to think. I keep playing mental ping-pong and going between “I got in” and “I definitely got rejected” and I’m going crazy! Hopkins’ Facebook page posted a status with information in a link pertaining to ED applicants, by the way!

Also, what are your other options in terms of schools you all are applying to? Would love to hear them!

Mine are:

UMD
UConn
Northeastern
Binghamton
UPenn
William and Mary
American University
Maybe 1 more

I understand that no one wants to be thinking about other schools when all we want is HOPKINS, and I’m hesitant with even posting this comment because of my superstition that I’m jinxing myself!

@Willyxyz What does the Facebook page say? I don’t have a Facebook.

@hopper1234 What are you thinking about majoring in?

@Willyxyz I applied early to Hopkins, U of M, and UChicago. If I don’t get into Hopkins or Chicago I will probably apply to a whole bunch of schools… like 10+.

I’m slowly losing my sanity….Another sleepless night boys/girls :(( :o3

@Willyxyz Haha, I applied ED to Penn M&T, got deferred then rejected. It was a wild ride.
@singanddance I am Applied Math & Stat, probably also going to double with Public Health. I was actually rejected BME but accepted to the university overall.

@hopper1234 Thats great that u ended up where you want to be! Ever since i applied ED to Hopkins i am extremely nervous!!! tomorrow is the day and i really don’t know whats going to happen!
