Reflection

Strengths: stats, courseload and ECs
What you tried to focus on in your application - any hooks you tried to make for yourself: Diversity, bilingualism (summer program and maccabi), ECs, leadership.
Weaknesses: Ivy League lottery; still don’t know what I wanna study (prob either business, engineering, or both)

I think I’ll be applying to some of the following (still unsure):
Penn (hopefully M&T program!!)
Michigan
Cornell
Harvard
MIT
Yale
Columbia
Stanford
WashU
UF (safety)
Carnegie Mellon
CalTech

I still haven’t decided whether I wanna study business or engineering, maybe both. I’d like to apply to schools who are good with both. If you guys could rate my chances (1-10) of getting into each of the aforementioned (especially PENN), that’d be greatly appreciated. Any personal comments are accepted and suggestions of other schools is amazing!

I will also be attending a summer program this summer! I was accepted into SSTP at UF but did not receive enough financial aid. I’ve also applied to SCEEP at UMich, and SAMS at CMU. I will be attending a two week program in Spain where I will volunteer to teach English to Spanish teens!

Chance thread for a reason

Dear baller55, please understand that I have not read your particulars. I don’t need to. After much angst (and effort) I now understand that to get your application noticed when it gets dropped into a pile with 30,000 others (for 2 or 3,000 slots) YOU WILL HAVE TO hire an application consultant.

I know some of the regulars on this forum will tell you, “Oh no, you don’t have to do that. Just do … blah, blah, blah.”

If you want to rely on more than luck of the draw, YOU WILL HAVE TO hire an application consultant. At least you’re getting an early start. And I won’t be paying Ivy League tuition because I didn’t hire the consultant.

That said, if you can be content with one of the hundreds of other top notch colleges in America, just focus on two or three of those. Been there, got the t-shirts.

@baller55 you seem a competitive applicant for Penn and the other schoolos you are applying to. Just bear in mind that there will be many many people with scores and credentials, Ecs much better than yours so try as much as you can to differentiate yourself through your essays etc. Especially for Penn the essays and specifically the why Penn essay matters a lot- Penn has a reputation for looking at candidates more holistically than many of its (ivy) peers.

You are like every other applicant just show your passion and what make you “tick”.
