@Xenonex @ccuser719 - I’m applying to Lafayette for ED as well!
@ccuser719 @Wormrot I am yet to decide on my ED college. Will decide within a week. All my potential ED colleges have the November 15 deadline.
Aren’t there any ACT test-takers out here?
Does Jacobs University Bremen still accept significant number of Nepali students? I haven’t heard of anyone getting into JUB since last few years. I guess it was in 2009 or 2010 that JUB accepted around 8-9 Nepali students. My cousin applied to JUB that year, so I remember it very well.
I took the June ACT.
@Wormrot It does! In fact, a lot of Nepalis (7-10 or even more?) were accepted early 2015, and I’m sure quite a few of them must have already started classes by now.
@Xenonex - Really? If so, then I’m seriously removing Bard from my list and adding JUB right away!
JUB will ask you to pay 5k euros per year and it has loads of loans. I do not know about Bard but give the finances a thought,
@Wormrot My friend got accepted into JUB last year. He was asked to pay 5K euros and 7K euros loan per year. They say that by working in summer, you can earn around 3K euros per year
@Wormrot Yes. But why not apply to both? I don’t get why you are so interchangeably pairing Bard and JUB. They’re two very different schools in many ways. What are you planning to study?
A few of my friends got in at JUB as well. Their financial aid packages included a lot of loan as similarly stated by @Shulav and @ccuser719 . So it is something to think about… I think that taking a loan should always be the very last option. Ain’t nobody want no/got time for loans!
@Wormrot - do you know anything about Bard asides from the fact that financial aid is available to international students? It is a very special (and wonderful) college - but is not right for everyone. Have you researched the school? I’m happy to answer questions about the place if you have them. And the website is very informative. @Xenonex is right - a university in Bremen and a small liberal arts college in upstate New York are as far apart as can be. What is it you’re looking for in a college?
@SpiritManager @Xenonex - Well, making silly comparisons between Bard and JUB was not my intention. Also, I have a cousin who attended Bard, and he told me that Bard doesn’t provide enough financial aid to international students these days. Hence, considering the limited amount of financial aid Bard offers, I assume applying to Bard is somewhat a very stupid decision.
@SpiritManager - I guess I know quite a lot about Bard. I even know that students gather and smoke weed in Blithewood Garden each year on 20th of April. Hahah.
HELP! my sat reasoning test score (super-scored) is 2320 (yay :D) but i took the SAT chemistry diagnostic test from Barron’s and got a score in 500s xD how did you guys prepare/ are you preparing for the subject tests? how long should i prepare to get scores above 750 in chem and math level 2 perhaps? and should i use barron’s or some other book? i have the test scheduled for november PLEASE HELP!
and i might apply early to Princeton U but it’s a sure shot rejection because my grades so suck :’(
Congratulations on your SAT Score! Its awesome
@shulav thanks! you have a great ACT score too, congrats! btw i’m retaking the SATon jan hoping to score 2400
any advice for sat 2?
@vacillatemuch I’m giving my SAT2 this November as well. As they say that Barrons is hard and there’s not much time left for the test, I decided to go for an “easier” book: Kaplan. I do not know if its a good strategy though.
@vacillatemuch I would suggest barrons. I myself prepared form that book. During practice, I always used to answer say on average 7 questions per chem set wrong. But on the real day, questions felt very easy and I got a 800 on Chem. Especially, if you practice math from barrons, maths will be a piece of cake
Thanks @ccuser719
Spare me the interview guys getting bombarded with messages here lol. This is my last post. Will be back to check the college acceptances though
@vacillatemuch - Good luck!
Thank you! Just submitted my app
