We will be at Viterbo auditions this weekend too!
My d is also auditioning at Viterbo this weekend.
If you are in La Crosse, WI this weekend for auditions, you have to go see Rotary Lights! @canadianmt
Don’t know what happened with post 443. What I wanted to post was, @CanadianMTgirl, you are such a great representative!
.
Hi everyone, I am a long time lurker but new poster. My son is a senior in the application and audition process now. I find I always feel a little uneasy and rejection is so much harder for me then it is for him, although it’s no picnic for him either. He was all about conservatory and/or conservatory style schools until about September and then changed his mind and began heavily leaning toward BA or more flexible BFA programs, although by then the wheels for many conservatory style schools were already in motion.
He has auditioned at Elon, Point Park, UArts, American and University of Tampa (by video). He has heard from, and been accepted by University of Tampa and UArts. He has also been accepted to Tulane, which has a BFA and is his current favorite by far, but it is the most expensive and I’m not sure we can afford it. He has not heard from the others yet.
He has passed 4/5 prescreens. He did not pass Penn State, which stung alot, as that is our home state, and he really liked the campus. He is still waiting to hear from Indiana. I am anxious about that as I would like to finalize our winter travel schedule.
Anyway, for you old timers, thanks so much for your advice and wisdom. I can’t tell you how much I have used it already. Thanks in advance for those parents/students in the class of 2020 - we’re in this together!
Congrats on all the acceptances!! Sounds like he will have great options by May!!
Does anyone know how long CCM and/or Montclair’s auditions take at Chicago Unifieds?
I wish they would let you pick your time of day as opposed to just the date. Roosevelt’s method is nice because you just pick a slot online.
@daedalu we are waiting on IU as well… fingers crossed!!
@ParachuteBoy - as I recall, Montclair sent d an audition time at Unifieds beforehand and the audition was short, just the time required to do songs and monologues (no interview). The dance call was scheduled early that same morning and was something like an hour long. She had plenty of time to do other auditions that day.
Thank you! Do you happen to know how flexible they are with adjusting to the other end of the day. I signed up for CCM and Montclair on the same day thinking I can do two auditions in one day. And now they both overlap in the morning.
@ParachuteBoy - I think many/most schools have some flexibility with rescheduling audition slots if you make your request for a change early enough. Call or email them ASAP.
@ParachuteBoy, as I recall (two years ago) CCM scheduled an audition every 6 minutes. I also seem to recall there was a dance call at an earlier time that day.
Sounds good thanks for the help. Seeing all of my schedule get pieced together makes this all seem so soon and real finally. Scary yet very exciting!
I thought American only auditioned on campus, and not until February? They don’t answer my emails. I would love more information about their process!
@boatmom - I think there is a November audition at American if you apply ED. This is from their website:
Saturday, November 21, 2015—ONLY for current AU Students and Early Decision Prospective Students.
Saturday and Sunday, February 13-14, 2016—for prospective students.
For information on audition and admission procedures please contact: theatreauditions@american.edu.
I think the video audition referred to in Post #446 was specific to University of Tampa perhaps?
@boatmom Yes the video was only for University of Tampa. He auditioned on campus on November 21. They allowed him to do this even though he did not apply ED and is not a current student because they had a cancellation and he had a conflict for the other audition weekend. Facilities were new and nice, the audition was right on time and the people were really nice. You can audition before you start as a student or after one semester, which a number of people were doing.
I’m having trouble scheduling a University of Miami audition-I’ve left them two messages and emailed them but haven’t heard anything. Anyone successfully scheduled an audition there?
Has anyone been able to schedule an audition for Montclair State? How does the audition scheduling work?
