We are so thrilled here. Hartt is my D’s first acceptance! Huge weight off my husband and I’s shoulders!
@evitasmom Congrats!!! It’s a good one! D has a good friend who is a junior. We saw Tiranic last year (Flawless!) and D took some classes. Her list has changed over the past year, but Hartt has remained.
@evitasmom Congrats to your D! It is a huge weight lifted - we felt the same. It also confirms their hard work to help build up their confidence again in this crazy process.
Yay @evitasmom!!! So exciting & worth the wait!!

@singoutlouise I know nothing about aid at Michigan for those coming off the waitlist. I wish I could help. Our experience was with Carnegie. @grayhairedman mentioned his experience but that was 4 or so years ago so who knows how they handle it now? I would continue showing interest in the program and cross my fingers that it will work out. MT students do get aid and scholarship money. Two people came off the waitlist last year, and the numbers probably vary from year to year. Sending good thoughts your way!
First, I’d like to say how impressive it is to follow the hard work and organization everyone has done here - kids and parents - to prepare for and manage this process. It’s true, there are all kinds of very talented kids, and this process is so subjective. I read through all of your posts, the angst, waiting, disappointments and successes and seem to ride the wave with you. I feel very lucky and blessed that our process - academic and artistic - is done. But I keep reading CC for your news, and my heart goes out to all of you as you near the end of this very stressful journey. Best of luck to all.
@milmom2 My D’s CCM portal is unchanged as well.
@evitasmom - Many congrats to your daughter! Wonderful news… Good luck!
@Eliza806 I heartily agree with looking for a coach who will support your child in this process. Great words! Keep in mind that you will NEVER KNOW why your child didn’t get in somewhere. No one will ever tell you. You won’t know if it’s because of her dance skills or if it’s because they need other types, or what… Like I said, Michigan takes kids who aren’t dancers. Carnegie doesn’t do a dance call. Ithaca evaluates dance via prescreen video. It’s not at the top of the list of most important skills. I think what strong dance skills can give you is more opportunities for employment once you are in the professional world. So my advice is to stay true to you and work hard so that you can show your best self to the auditors. No one can say who will get in where, not even the best coaches out there. It’s a mysterious process.
Congrats to all who are receiving some good news. The hardest part is almost over!
For some levity, here is some satire…don’t be this parent, LOL:

@Eliza806 We never got a text or an email-just this letter today out of nowhere!
@soozievt BWAHAHAHAHA!! I love the commentor who said, “I don’t get it.” :))
@singoutlouise Sent you message re merit money and waitlist for Michigan.
@HappyDancer98 Carnegie did a dance call four years ago. Has it changed?
@grayhairedman yes it has changed. No dance call for Carnegie. Just songs and monologues.
no email from Syracuse @CATenorMom. My daughter said on the company FB page that there were only rejection emails yesterday. So looks like we wait another week… :((
@kaf011 Well, I guess that’s good news, then, since we didn’t get a rejection email…
My S is still waiting on Syracuse and Hartt @kaf011 Thank goodness he’s away on his senior class trip. It’s certainly a good distraction as I sit here and twiddle my thumbs :))
Just wondering since this U Mich and CMU discussion has come up here and in other threads…what specific things are making those schools the elite of MT schools?
Tbh I have always wondered . Like specific things
