Thank you @savedrama4momma! My S just performed a show with a horrible case of the flu - running off stage and throwing up. The show must go on! I had her stay home in bed, humidifier running, with a dose of advil cold and flu. Hopefully the rest will help.
@VoiceTeacher My daughter applied to Shenandoah and we received an email that she had to submit her prescreen. I told them that she was planning to do the Combined Audition in NYC and they said she had to submit the screen anyway. A current student has posted on a forum that even if you fail the prescreen for Shenandoah you can still come to the Combined audition. But then I had read somewhere else that you couldn’t. We haven’t heard back from the school yet to know if she passed or failed.
Break legs this weekend, @artskids ! We have a break until mid-January.
Has anyone that auditioned at CCM last weekend heard anything? At the meeting they said emails would go out today if I’m not mistaken.
To all those auditioning today, Break Legs! Enjoy the experience and focus on being you. We’re getting our first snowfall in the northeast so be careful out there.
@PaMTmom a friends D auditioned last weekend and got a rejection yesterday. Hope that helps.
One of D’s friends told her at their Point Park audition that he received his CCM rejection Thursday or Friday.
D had her Point Park audition on campus yesterday. The day was not too long. The website says assume 8:30 - 5:00; her email said 9-1:30. They ended up dividing the groups into morning and afternoon sessions. We got there at 8:30, checked in, got a very short welcome and they took all the kids out of the room to their audition locations. Parents were not invited to follow :-). Staff stayed back for a Q&A session. The campus is in the Market Square District; there is plenty to do if parents did not want to stay for Q&A.
D said the MT kids were split into 3 groups. She did her two song cuts and monologue and the auditors asked her to for her rep book and chose a third song for her to perform. They had a short break and the kids moved to the dance call. They all learned the combination and then performed in groups. D is a mover, not a dancer, and said the call wasn’t really difficult but it was FAST. She said it was easy to pick out the “real dancers”. All in all, she felt the songs and monologues went well; the dance call went as well as she could have expected having just come out of a boot! They ran the auditions very efficiently; she was done by about 1:30.
Last night I had this VIVID dream that we were on our way to an audition and several states away from home when we realized we forgot everything. It was so stressful. LOL Guess I shouldn’t check CC boards before bed from now on.
Stress dreams! I check and re-check D’s suitcase against a checklist. Four years ago we were checking S’s audition book and materials the night before his CMU audition and he realized his headshots and resumes were not in his book. We called home - they apparently had slipped out of his book and were sitting in the driveway. Luckily, we had all his material on a thumb drive. We found a CVS and printed headshots and resumes at 10:30 pm. Same S broke a shoe on the way to his BU audition. The sole split in half and we had already trained from the hotel. There was an open Goodwill near BU - we bought him a nicer pair of shoes than the ones he was wearing! I now find myself researching places to buy dancewear near campuses. Expect the unexpected.
Insomnia is more like it here. Prior to the PP audition, I slept less than 30 minutes! @artskids you’re right, expect the unexpected and roll with the punches. I’m so happy we have a break until the middle of January, otherwise I would be losing my mind.
New here…D had PP MT audition yesterday. She was in the morning session and I agree with artsmom…very efficient. My D was done at 2:30. I didn’t stay for theQ&A. I like to go see the area… if she gets accepted, there will be plenty of time for Q&A…lol.
Storing all music (both sheet music and tracks), resume, headshot in the cloud helped me sleep at night! Unfortunately we couldn’t store a curling iron in the cloud… so I made an early morning trip to CVS at one on campus audition!
@kategrizz I am using your cloud storage tip this year! So glad you mentioned it!
@artskids and @MThopeful2022 glad to hear you had good days yesterday! We love visiting the Market Square area when we’re in the burgh. DD was there yesterday ice skating with some of her classmates. If you have any questions about PPU, feel free to reach out.
Thanks @CTDramaMom! That ice rink was PACKED!
Yeah, it’s a popular attraction. DD asked for skates last Christmas so she could go!
Does Point Park have a callback system?
@“overwhelmedmomof#1” no call back for Point Park. There was no prescreen this year - not sure about prior years. D was able to schedule her audition once her application was submitted.
Point Park has not yet instituted a prescreen, and there is no callback system. They tend to notify kids via email all on the same day in mid-March (at least that’s how it’s been the past few years). BAL to all auditioning!
