Does anyone else get a big eye roll when you want to celebrate an academic admit? I say celebrate ALL the steps along the journey. D says - sheesh Mom, it doesn’t REALLY mean anything. Harumph.
@mommafaria Longest day! For sure. It was terrible sitting in that packed room. We had the late session with no lunch and waited til 5. Def not a dreamy experience.
We did too! Last one in for monologues. I kept going downstairs and coming back to check in.
One more in the books! Good luck! We still have 5 more and no idea where she’ll be next year.
Gearing up for auditions in Chicago! My D has 10 scheduled while we are there. Curious to see if she will be able to do walk-ins. Has anybody experienced walk-ins? My D has extra essays, transcripts, letters of rec etc~ all ready…do I just bring a check for application fee?
Walk ins were successful in NYC, but try to line them up on the first day as soon as possible. Some schools allowed you to schedule for the following days, so it really was first come first served. Also, different people at the door were more knowledgable than others. If the person seems unsure, check back if a new person arrives at the door. Break a Leg!
@jenniferm1973 yes bring a checkbook for walk ins.
Some schools want that and others don’t. That and resume/headshot should be all you need. BAL
D1 did 3 or 4 walk-ins two years ago at Chicago as an Acting major. She could have fit in more toward the end of the week but we cut short one day to avoid a snow storm.
For those that auditioned at Elon this fall, did the audition last until late in the evening? What time did you leave the campus?
We left around 6 pm.
@hmichmom we auditioned Elon in the Fall and we left about 6pm.
@hmichmom if I remember correctly the group that dances last was still there when we were done. Hope that helps!
@anotherBwaymom I’ve already chatted with @mommafaria about our morning experience at CMU. My d was the first to sing (in the room she went to) and one of the last to act, but in total (not counting the signing in and paperwork and welcome speeches) we were in and out in about 2.5 hours (and I was one of maybe ten parents left in the room when she came out, so they were nearing the end). I can’t believe yours got backed up so long!
One thing to keep in mind on Elon is that the fall auditions might not have had as many prospective students given many had not gotten in prescreens by 9/30. I know our S did not. The department advised to plan on being there until 9 PM.
6pm seems a short day for Elon! I know people who were there almost till midnight in years past. ^9pm sounds more like what they normally do.
Wow! We were there from 9:45 - 6. I didn’t think that was short … lol
Both in '16 and '17, we were at Elon til about 8:45 pm.
You’ve earned your stripes @owensfolks!
We were at Elon from 9am until 8:30pm. My D had the 6:30pm dance call
@mandidnam was there only one dance call or different groups throughout day? Thanks for your answer.
