Class of 2025 Admissions Decisions ONLY - University of Delaware

Ok I just checked the website, since when is the highest scholarship $6000?! My sophomore gets $17,000, and dd21 has almost identical stats. There is no way she can go OOS with only a $6000 scholarship.

I havenā€™t heard back from nursing yet, maybe today?

I was going to ask on CC if the newly published merit awards were in line with previous years. My daughter is ā€˜22 so we arenā€™t that far in the process but I was unpleasantly surprised by these numbers too!

When you say website - do you mean her portal or just the general website?

Udel.edu I swear I looked a couple of days ago and the old numbers were there. My daughter got $18,000 from temple and UMASS, so I was assuming UD would be similar even with covid.

The highest for OOS is 17,000. You have to click the Out of state link.

Thank you, so Iā€™m not crazy, I knew I saw $17,000! That makes sense.

According to the website, the maximum OOS scholarship is 17k. Make sure you click on the OOS tab. The chart is a little difficult to read.

Regarding OOS merit, Iā€™m curious if they will consider senior year grades if they help the studentā€™s GPA jump from one threshold to the next. Say, from a 3.7 to a 3.85?

Iā€™m really wondering if merit may come out today??

So disappointed. My UD daughter (now a junior) got no merit but was in top 10% of her class and EC full of leadership. She had a 1290 SAT so didnā€™t get merit.

This time my other D got a 1400 SAT and is top of her class and now they arenā€™t basing on SAT (I understand it was a crazy year with testing). It just figures lol. And Iā€™m reading highest is 6,000? Geez.

Highest for OOS is 17k. While merit is no longer based on scores, the chart is not set in stone and Iā€™m willing to bet they will consider scores. The language of the merit chart is carefully worded to demonstrate that the GPAs are just guidelines, not set in stone like Arizona for example.

So wait, are we waiting for merit in the mail or are we expecting a portal update? If itā€™s mail are we expecting it to arrive before the holiday?

3 years ago my daughter got a decent amount of merit right away. Then in April, they offered her 5K more. Not sure if that was from senior grades (hers did go up a decent amt) or b/c they had a lower yield? But something to keep in mind.

Interesting. Thank you.

Thanks for posting. FYI- There is an error I think if you are trying to access merit award estimates through Apple iOS. Iā€™m using an iPhone and now assume that the OOS awards and In-State awards are backwards after checking again. I was disappointed when I saw 4-6k a couple days ago and thought it was OOS average for over 4.0 GPA.

When I went to the website from
my PC the pages are flipped to what I assume they should be average OOS of 15-17k award for over 4.0 GPA.

My D was accepted into nursing in last Fridayā€™s round of acceptances.

What was her stats?

the way the website is formatted makes it very confusing, the highest for in state is $6,000, OOS is still $17,000! Had the same scare last night

OOS. Weighted GPA 4.5. Test optional. Two sports, extracurricular activities, hospital volunteering, etc.
