Hey guys, just created a thread for students from India applying to the US next year! We can chat about anything related to college apps and ECs and stats, feel free to post a reply!
Hey y 'all I’m so dumb I haven’t created my college list yet . It would be a great help if you guys can tell me what colleges I can apply to .
-Basic info- first gen low income , need financial aid.
-stats- 9th grade- 89 ( icse )10th grade - 92.4( icse ) 11th grade- started now ( Karnataka pu board ) .
SAT - yet to take , PSAT - 1460 , APs- yet to take ( calc bc , econ , psychology and Spanish )
ECs- student council ( cultural head all three years ) , publishing a econ research paper , blog 100k + views , tutored kids in a local school on the subjects math and English , euphoria org to help students in my city with mental health, smiles campaign to raise funds for municipality workers , leaders of Tomo org to discover underprivileged talents and raise funds for them , starting this November namma air campaign to urge the Karnataka government to pass the climate emergency , interning at a local company this December , 500+ hours of community service at local temple and hospital , starting a yearly magazine this year .
Common app essay - it’s on Kintsugi’s ( the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery ) impact on my life and how my family’s financial background doesn’t stop me from dreaming high.
So y’all tell me some colleges I can get into atleast with a full tuition scholarship .
PS- I am a self taught dancer and artist so I’mma include my supplements.
PS- I’m applying as an econ/ business major prolly with a double major in theatre/psychology.
The colleges( I know they are way too big shots) I’m thinking of are
Stanford ,USC, UPenn ,Emory , vandy , brown , UBC , NYU, Pomona , Georgetown , Cornell , Princeton , U mich ,Yale,
I had a little better stats but got rejected from all these unis as they are currently really broke. They won’t offer you any scholarships and if you do ask for a need based one they will reject you. My advice to you would be to pursue your undergraduate degree in india and then apply for a postgraduate programme outside
Hey Anna6,
Thanks for the reply .
But I have friends / seniors who got into good colleges like top tier with good financial aid pacakges. So my ECs are a bit better than theirs according to them. What say now?
Read the news somewhere, isn’t record number of student visas issued by USA consulate in India for current year?
Well that’s really good I’m not discouraging you at all to try for them but along with it also try for unis such as NUS,NTU aane the like which also give a preference to Asians and a really really good financial aid
how many indians get into ntu and nus
not to discourage you but your grades are kinda bad
