I have about 40 kids in my grade. What should my class rank be to get into a prestigious university such as Harvard, Stanford or MIT?
Current college freshman here! Although class rank is important, what’s more important is the rigor of your coursework and the quality of your classes. It’s hard to say what class rank you “need,” especially because of your small class size. Definitely try to challenge yourself and take AP classes and honors if possible. Remember, admissions officers don’t just look at your rank and GPA- they are given a school profile and look at your coursework and performance in those classes compared to others in your school. I can personally tell you that you don’t need to be valedictorian or salutatorian to get into MIT or an Ivy!
