Hope everyone is having a great day!
Anyways, my school has this program called Early College that is designed for students who don’t usually do well in school. So, at the beginning of the year my school administration without anyone knowing changed it so that the Early College program would get AP credits per every HALF semester that they complete of their core classes. So basically, I’m taking 3 AP classes this year so the Early College kids in turn are going to earn about 6 AP credits. My school calculates class rank based on grade you achieve in a class and the weight of it. I’m basically getting screwed over by this new rule and have no chance of being in top 10% of my class anymore. I’m very upset…any recommendations on what I could do/say about this when I apply to colleges?
That’s really unfortunate, but I wouldn’t say anything on college apps.
I would bring this up to your school’s registrar! It’s possible that they aren’t seeing all of the ramifications of that policy, so perhaps if you bring it to their attention they will realize it is hurting as many people as it helps! Can’t hurt to make a logical, well-reasoned and calm argument to the administration.
You really think the “early college” students who don’t do well will pull ahead of you in class rank? I very much doubt that. Were they close to you in rank before this?
