<p>Depends on the college. For the tippy top schools, top 10% isn’t good enough; top 1% might not cut it. For most colleges, top 11%, or even top 20% would be fine.</p>
<p>Not particularly, no. In a school of 400, your rank is going to be viewed the essentially the exact same way whether you’re #39 or #41. Now, being in the top 10% might come with perks in some schools/states (ex. lame school awards and titles to add to your application, auto-admission at certain state schools).</p>
