Hi, everyone! I accidentally found out my class rank today (they are reported to colleges but are NOT public for high school students or parents). I have a 92% UNWEIGHTED GPA and am ranked #10 out of 41 students. Most of my schools want students in the top 10%, but because I go to a small public high school, is being ranked #10 not too bad? I take lots of challenging courses and AP courses, and have always had a full schedule. Thanks!

It depends on where you are applying. Generally speaking, the top 25% is quite good. Relatively speaking (in terms of the Ivy League, etc.) it is not good.

@gameofthrones1 Thanks for your response! I applied to 1 Ivy and a few other selective colleges (20-30% acceptance rates). I thought because it was unweighted and I had a very small class size, it would be taken into consideration? I know most colleges have their own system of determining GPA and considering rank, though.

Nope, I don’t think so. I remember reading the tables in the back of “A is for Admission” on class rank, and if anything small class size hurts you.
