Hi everyone,
I’m a rising junior and am currently signed up for APUSH, AP English, AP Spanish language, AP Chem (which is two periods, lab and seminar), Honors Winds Ensemble, and AP Calc AB. I was worried that Calc BC wouldn’t be a good fit for me, as calculus isn’t my strong suit, and my schedule’s already pretty busy. However, the colleges I’m aiming for are Cornell, Vanderbilt, and Princeton as a high reach, and I’m worried that AB won’t look challenging enough. Additionally, I am planning to go pre-med, and I heard that colleges like to see as much calculus as possible. My friends are all taking BC. To give a little background, I took a combined precal/math 3 class so I’ll be able to take both AP calculus and AP stat, which my parents told me is really helpful, but it had very little precalculus and I was worried I wouldn’t be prepared enough for BC. My other issue is that I know top-level colleges like to see physics, but I can’t take AP physics, AP chem, AP bio, and APES (I’m planning to take the latter two senior year) because there’s not enough room in my schedule. Sorry for the long message, and I’d really appreciate any help you guys can provide!
It is best to take all of biology, chemistry, and physics; they do not all have to be AP or otherwise advanced level.
Note that lacking any of them at the high school level will make it harder when you take them in college.
College admissions don’t distinguish between AB and BC so you’re good.
You can take Physics regular or Physics honors next year alongside AP bio.
Your schedule is very ambitious, be careful not to burn out.
