Hi everyone, my D was accepted to the Honors program and OSU is one of her top choices. Since OSU is a large school, we were wondering about the class sizes for the honors program. We know the honors courses have small class sizes. Does anyone know if the general education course is a small size class or a large size class for the honors students. Any information will be appreciated. Thanks!

Seems to me that most of the gen ed classes offer honors sections. For instance, Psych 100H is the honors equivalent of Psych 100, counts towards gen ed requirements for many programs, and only takes 35 students. However, each undergrad program has its own gen ed requirements.

Thanks RMGsmom!

Many low-level general education courses are offered as an honors class- I took honors into to psych, anthropology, micro and macro econ, and then took honors business classes once I was accepted into one of the business honors groups.

Honors students do not take all of their GECs as honors, however, as only a certain number are required (it was six honors or higher level courses by the end of the sophomore year under quarters for my program). Honors students can opt to take more honors courses than are required. In my experience the honors classes were smaller, with more discussion and higher-level work, rather than a lot of busy work.

@maybell, thanks for your information! It was really helpful.
