DD is a soph. and had to change her major because she didn't get into the program she was trying for (Pre-OT). She has been researching all the grad schools in Florida (7 including UF) to see what their requirements are to get into grad school. She has the grades and all the pre-req's except 3 classes. Not all the schools require these 3 classes but a majority do. If she looks at those classes here a UF they say you must be in the pre-OT program to take them. Does anyone know do they make exceptions to take those classes? Otherwise she is pretty much left out for applying to grad school for Occupational Therapy at those specific schools because she can't get those classes! I guess she could always graduate from UF and then go to one of those schools and try to pick up those classes before she apply's..but that seems like a huge waste of money. No other school has a pre-OT program except UF so I don't see why she can't take those classes if she pays for them. Anyone know how it works? She can't get in to see an advisor until May.

For those of you that have read…the answer is “No, she cannot take those classes at UF because they are only for the PRE-OT students”…she was told this by an advisor. Advisor told her she would have to apply to the MOT programs and she can “figure it out between the MOT program that might accept her” as to how she would be able to pick up those classes. Great help UF is!

She was also told this year they had an overwhelming response to applicants for the pre-OT program. Maybe they should consider expanding it! Our kids are more than qualified to do this.
