right...?

That is to say that as an FSU student, any class taken over the summer at a community college such as TCC would only serve as transcript filler or as means of knocking off course/major requirements..

Not sure about grade deal and if they go toward FSU GPA (probably not FSU GPA but will apply to overall GPA), but did you have to advance tuition and fees at your transient college? FSU won’t even start working on my financial package until after drop/add period at the transient college I’m attending–I’ve got to pay out of my own pocket tomorrow tuition and fees and hopefully get reimbursed later even though I’ll have my scholarship money sitting in the bank at FSU. I’ve got a consortium agreement in place.

You have two GPA’s: Your FSU GPA and Overall. I believe for degrees of distinction (IE: Cum Laude), both GPA’s need to be at the threshold. Plus, it doesn’t go into your transcript as S/U, so if you get a C, future employers/grad school admissions will see it and will likely consider it part of your GPA.

Shoot for the best grade possible.

^ Well the problem is that I know I can get an A in one of these classes at FSU and at TCC, and I need all the As I can get for magna cum laude, so I’m starting to think I should just take it at FSU even though it’d put me ‘back’ a semester (still graduating before 4 years, but right now I’m on track for 3). I don’t even see my “overall” GPA anywhere on my unofficial transcript or recent grades section, so that’s why I started to assume community college classes didn’t count for anything.

But about the consortium agreement and such…my situation is pretty much the same. I have to wait for 30 days of class to have passed before TCC will send the consortium agreement to FSU (which is ■■■■■■■■ since all it says is that I’ve paid my fees and am registered for these classes…and you don’t get a refund after the first week anyway) and then and only then will FSU even start working on my financial aid package… so I probably won’t even get reimbursed until the first summer session is over and I’m already out of the country -_-

They don’t show your overall GPA, but I know for a fact (at least if you take it at a different University) that the letter grade shows up on your transcript.

So just to clarify based on what Matt125 just quoted…degrees of distinction are based on overall GPA’s not FSU GPA’s, correct?

They’re based on BOTH. You need to have both GPA’s at the threshold. In other words, transient credits can only hurt you as far as degrees of distinction are concerned.

Got it. Thanks, Matt125.
