Has anyone else looked through the list of classes yet? Choices are a bit smaller, but that is kind of what I expected. How is everyone choosing classes based on what classes you also took this fall. This is mostly out to freshman since the overall rythem of starting off is a little whacked. Not to say that upper classmen don't have it just as bad.

I really have very little choice for times and there aren't very many sections of the classes I need to take but I am pretty sure I can still get everything i need as long as there's space available.

Just a mom here, but I know that in Engineering they want you to "talk" (or email) with your Advisor first to see what to take. This may be specialized to Engineering since they need to be sure kid took the "right kind" of math, physics, etc.

Kind of peeved at chem. Only one chem and lab 107/117 for spring and only one 1081/118 for lagniappe. Kind of screwing a lot of other things I need up. But the lagniappe is helping me a lot with catching up on things I need for pre-med.

ballerina- so good to hear that you are able to return to Tulane.

Thank you:-) I think we've got it pulled together enough financially.

In any case, anyone know where the perspectives classes are located?

I also can't register for TIDEs. Anyoen else having this problem

OK this is stupid. There's only one section of many lab science classes. Well when the lab fills up, you can't register for the class, even though there's like 150 spots left.

Yeah. That's just the policy. I had problems with that last semester but in the end I still got in the GEN Chem I wanted. Probably you should waitlist that science class and try to evaluate your chances of getting it by the size of the waiting list. If you feel you can't get in, replace it with another class and take it perhaps during the Lagniappe semester? Good luck!

To Vinin & Kraemer3434: I do have problems getting the class I want. I waislited two classes and I'm still on the waiting list. How desparate that is!

no i mean Im getting a wierd error: You may not add TIDB-101-02. It is restricted by Student Classification. What is with that?

I can't waitlist it because technically the actual course isn't full, so it won't let me. Only the lab is full, and apparently "this course can't be waitlisted."

so i guess I'm at the bottom of the priority registration list. All the classes I need are filling up if not already filled up and I still can't register yet, which makes me kind of mad because I'm an engineering major and don't have much choice in what I have to take. bah. and my advisor hasn't emailed me back. :( Sorry for complaining.

It's ok kraem, yours are at least mild and perfectly understandable. Many I've heard have been downright hideous.

kraemer3434 - My sympathies. My S, also engineering, was at the end of today for registration and had difficulty with filled classes - at least at the times he wanted (that would NOT include 8:00 am classes :D).

He also didn't hear back from his adviser. We contacted the call center who said to email Dean Martinez who responded immediately and helpfully. So I really recommend you do that: martinez@tulane.edu

You might tell him of the problems of closed courses. I'm betting there will be some sections added - eg, S could not get into Chem because chem labs are full, etc. If you learn anything re this, hope you will post here.

Keep the faith.

Kraemer3434: Sorry to hear that you had a late registration day... Speaking of academic advisors at Engineering School... Don't really count on them. I have a friend who's a chem ENG major. He complained about how unresponsive his advisor is. He tried to have a discussion with him over some issues like class registration and stuff, but the advisor seemed intolerably impatient. He just gave my friend an info sheet that has all the classes needed for a CHEM ENG degree and that's it. How irresponsible that is! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and good luck with registration. It definitely can be frustrating... I am.

My son got an email today from tulane college advising him that more seats are being added to 100 level courses in math and chem.
(I think there were a couple other disciplines as well, but can't recall.)
Supposedly the new seats were to be added late today or tomorrow.

Maybe that will help.....

that's very good to hear, curiouser. My advisor (Dr. Benard) has actually been really great and usually responds very promptly when I email him, but it just took him a while today. He ended up telling me to drop Eng. Tides so that I could go ahead a register for one of the last chem lab spots and then we'd see about getting a new lab later. Apparently a lot of people hae been complaining about the chem lab situation.

Hrmm, how come everyone else has an advisor and I have no idea who mine is or where to find him/her?

Vinin - You don't say which college you're in. Newcomb College Advisors are listed here: http://www.newcombcollege.com/Academics.html

D has also had difficulty contacting her Advisor, and consequently has had to "move up the chain of command." Her emails to Administrators were promptly returned. Some of the answers have tested her patience, but she is giving Tulane the benefit of the doubt at this point.
