Classics at UCSC?

I'm looking into to USCS and I was wondering how the Classics program is? Any opinions or info would be greatly appreciated :)

My roommate is in the classics major!

It’s really small. Not too many professors or students. But there seem to be some advantages to that. The classes you take for the major are pretty flexible. Like next quarter she’s taking a class on Egyptian Hieroglyphics for a major requirement. You also get to know your professors much better because of the small group size. She really seems to love the classic program. If you want I can try to get her on here to tell you more. :P

I’m an anthro/classics double major. The CS department is really great. Like Liesel said, it’s tiny - a handful of professors, a few dozen students. We meet up every Friday for happy hour. As I’m sure you can imagine there are certain benefits to having your professors as drinking buddies. ;)

Overall it’s a really friendly group of people, with some really incredible professors. Gildas Hamel, Maria Evangelatou and Jenny Lynn really stick out. If you pick UCSC for classics, you definitely won’t be disappointed.
