CLEP for undergrad.. will it hurt my chances for grad school?

I am thinking about taking some CLEP tests to speed up the time that I can get my bachelors, but I am not sure exactly how grad school works.

Is grad school like an extension of your bachelor's, where they count they credits from your bachelors, or is it just a prerequisite to have a degree, like high school is to college.

I do not really care about getting into the best school, I just want to be able to have a choice of at least 2 or 3 in southern California. UC schools, state schools, maybe a few private ones

I am in the military right now, and my plan was to complete my bachelor's by the time I get out, and the only way I will be able to meet that deadline is if I take a few CLEP tests. Works perfectly with the 2013 fall semester too.

Basically will most grad schools accept my bachelor's if some of it is CLEP, and the rest done online?

Thanks

If you’re applying for an MBA, you will almost certainly not be accepted to any university worth attending if you don’t have one to two years (at least) of significant business/managerial/entrepreneurial experience.

Honestly I do not really care about the reputation of the school, I just plan to go as far as I possibly can, since I have the GI Bill to pay for it. I would rather continue after masters and get like a DBA or something. Basically I just want to go to school forever. Thanks for responding, I also posted this in the other forum because I was not getting any answers here, but I do plan to go into business.

Would a MBA from like USC be better than a DBA at some private school, like Cal Poly?

Cal Poly is not a private school, nor do they offer a DBA.

You need to care about the reputation and quality of the school, because an MBA from a random school that accepts anyone will not do anything for your resume.

A doctorate is a research degree aimed at people who want to go into teaching. Do you want to go into teaching? If not, you have no need of pursuing a DBA.

Nor is an MBA a stepping-stone to a doctorate. An MBA is a terminal professional degree aimed at business leaders.

My bad I thought Cal Poly was private. I do not want to go into teaching, but there must be some kind of degree after an MBA. I just figured the more school, the better the jobs and more money.

Is an MBA the highest level degree that is used for actual work? I know there are different focuses, but are there different Master’s of Business

Let me clear things up a bit. My goals are different than most peoples’. I do not care how much money I make… to an extent. While obtaining my bachelors I do not plan to work because the Army will be paying for my schooling and housing.

I do not want to “go far” in business. I just thought a graduate business degree would be good for a job in real estate or some other kind of sales.

I hate salaries.I am in the Army right now and no matter where I work, or how much work I do, I will get paid the exact same amount as someone with the same rank as me. Some people get promoted as fast as possible because their unit has slots for their rank, others can be the best thing to happen to the Army and be stuck because their first line supervisor just does not like them.

I have to do something with a commission. If i know that I am actually MAKING the money, and the amount of effort i put in will make a difference, then I am extremely motivated.

Eventually I plan to own a small business, but that takes capital. So basically I figure I can get a bachelors, and then get an MBA from just a regular non-ivy league school, so that I will be considered more qualified than someone with just a bachelors. After a few years of working in real estate, vehicle sales, or something similar, I will tap into that savings account.

And that’s the long term.

So like i said, I am not trying to be MR. CEO of the world, I just want financial stability for my business.
