Close the Store, It’s the Year’s Big Game in Alabama

The Alabama-Auburn game, a.k.a. the Iron Bowl, is Saturday. In many parts of Alabama, life will shut down.

If you’re not into the game, it’s a GREAT time to go shopping!!

Roll tide!!!

DH and I were married 23 years ago in Birmingham on the day of the Iron Bowl - when it was still payed at Legion Field. DH was a student at Auburn and the minister came straight to the church from the game still wearing his Alabama game day gear. No one could tell once he put on his robes!

Missread, that is an awesome story (although scheduling a wedding for that Saturday seems to be the penalty for death in that state?).

We had no choice… It was the only Saturday we could have the church from Thanksgiving until the first of the year. DH had classes and I had started a new job at Auburn so it was then or wait until the end of the spring semester. Everyone thought we were crazy for scheduling a wedding that day!
