Clubs/Extracurricular (Which are the MOST effective) for Technological Colleges

Hello all.

I am wondering which extracurriculars/clubs would be the most beneficial for a college like MIT, or any other tech colleges.

I am currently in Science Olympiad, play competitive soccer, (Trying out for school team in a week), volunteer at my local temple, etc. I do many more things, but I’m not sure if they’re even important when applying to college.

I also have all 95’s and above for the basic subjects such as Math, Science, Reading, and Social Studies. I normally go for PLTW (Project Lead the Way) Electives which offer classes such as Computer Science, Robotics, etc.

I am also planning on taking AP/Tech courses for 9th grade next year, such as:

-Intro to Computer Science Basics

-Python I

etc.

There are many more requirements which I still need to understand, but I’ll need as much help as I can get. We all need to know more to get closer to achieving our dreams, but in order to do that, we need the help of each other.

Thank you so much for reading through this post.
Please let me know what else I could do to improve.

Have a great day.

As a current freshman, I would advise you to spend your first week(s) of the school year to try out all the clubs/activities your school has.

  • Firstly, I think it's actually a very cool process to do just jumping around clubs/classes after school every day and get to know a lot of people.
  • Secondly, it'd give you a sense of your school environment and culture, as well as what kind of people are there at your school.
  • Finally, it gives you the opportunity to explore your passion(s) when you're still having a lot of free time. After you've tried out all those things, pick 2-3 activities you're most interested in, and those will be what you're gonna commit to for the rest of your high school career.

Is that helpful?
