I applied to most of the UCs for Fall 2020 and I was rejected by all of them except UCSC. I thought my application was fine but there were some damning mistakes I made in the application that could’ve possibly taken away from me (Chose the wrong major for UCSD and didn’t explain an incomplete for a class). I’m not sure if those were the sole cause of me not getting into a few of these schools I thought I had a chance with. It could just have been that I wasn’t qualified enough but I’m not sure what to do at this point. I could attend UCSC which isn’t bad but I don’t believe it’s a very strong school for my major (Business Admin/Econ). I plan to appeal to multiple schools but those chances are even lower than admittance chances. I feel like I’m completely out of options at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Work hard. Find a job.
Your life isn’t determined by the school you go to (and how are you determining whether a school is “strong” anyway?) And the UCs are pretty similar.
Why not go to UCSC?
@PurpleTitan I determine the strength of the school by how strong my major’s program is. Do you mean to say that I should reapply next year?
@twoinanddone The major I got in for wasn’t exactly what I was planning. It was just the most similar to business. I guess it’s not really a time for me to be picky but my heart was never set on going to Santa Cruz.
I think you can do just fine at UCSC’s programs in your major. You might not get accepted to a more competitive school or a school with a more competitive program. The “water” rose or sank to your level in terms of school acceptance. You can try it again next year, of course. But UCSC is a bird in hand. It’s also a might fine school , IMO
How are you determining the strength of your major’s program?
Take advantage of the opportunity in front of you and make the most of it. Woulda, shoulda, coulda thinking will paralyze you and will prevent you from accomplishing anything. Life is what YOU make it. Go forward and don’t look back.
UCSC is a fantastic University with a beautiful campus and scads of famous alums. It’s hard to imagine a much better place to spend 4 years of college. You should be proud of what you’ve accomplished by gaining admission there.
Congratulation!
I appreciate the responses. Thanks very much everyone.
