People post links to relevant articles all the time. Parent57, I know you mean well, but you’re not really doing CMC any favors with your tone. You’re extremely critical of and often times just downright mean to others on this site, so just grin and bear it. It’s a taste of your own medicine.

Speaking of the coverage on this story, though, I just want to say how impressed I am by the student publications at CMC and Pomona. The articles are well-written, and the rivalry between some of the school publications in some ways probably improve the quality of the work. Well done, CMC and Pomona journalists!

Pomkenna (as a dog lover your CC name makes me think of combining two pure breeds eg. goldendoodle ) I am doing my best not to be mean but there is something about Prophet, for example posting this link in two different places in the CMC forum, that seems strange to me.

Of course, you really don’t know me, but I am pretty successful in the real world and have developed a good nose for divining people’s intentions and this doesn’t feel right to me. Generally, when I feel this way, I am usually right.

“Well, no one has accused me of being a wallflower, but my dog thinks I am lovable. Sometimes my wife does too.”

It’s funny to learn your gender, because this entire time I was under the impression that you were a whiny “female dog”. CMC is lucky to have you supporting them…

In all seriousness though, I respect the administration for coming forward with this. My respect for CMC as an institution has actually increased thanks to the thoughtful posters in this thread (to be clear, parent57 is not one of the people that I’m thanking, this person is awful and I still have trouble believing that there is a man behind that alias).

I have a lot more respect for CMC than all the other colleges who continuously manipulate their audiences and delete test scores. CMC, you are a beacon on the hill. I hope other college Deans cowered when this news broke.

I’ve sort of been lurking on these discussions, and, really, Prophet’s been getting into it with other posters, as well as getting after this one topic. I can’t say I totally contradict parent57’s curiosity as to Prophet’s motives.

" I respect the administration for coming forward with this. "

ECB, your respect might very well be deserved. On the other hand, the part of the story yet to unfold is how did it come to light, how long was it known about, and how was the decision to go public made, and by whom? Was there dissension or unanimity?

Whoever made the decision to make this public absolutely has my respect! I doubt that that same person trolls these boards, so my gratitude probably falls on deaf ears. I wish other college administrators across the country had the stones to say “…yeah, we’re doing it too, and it’s time to stop.”

"I’ve been doing my share of lurking on CC forums, looking at a lot of northeast schools, and I have to say that you have a reputation for being nothing but a complainer…

Stuck between Cornell & Duke-Please Help!
Post # 5 # 17 # 33 # 49 and # 53 say a lot about you. I hope you won’t bash all of your future homes in this fashion. Rochester is unlucky to have you.

It’s too bad that you feel obligated to dish out negative remarks on these sites. You sound like a stuck up snob."

You sound like a very pleasant person (whiny female dog, maybe)

“and, really, Prophet’s been getting into it with other posters”

What the hell are you talking about? Please link to any post where I have mixed it up with another poster besides this one right here. Otherwise, don’t come on here and invent things about people. Inventing SAT scores is one thing, but faking that I have attacked other posters when all my posts are open for review is another.

Parent questioned me and my motives earlier. In response I made one post that covers it all. I won’t keep reposting it. Feel free to dig it up and examine it further if you would like, or repost, or just continue to question my motives. I am simply interested in the topic at hand. I won’t apologize for that.

Prophet, lower your blood pressure. Why are you so upset. Reread all your posts (all of them on this subject at CC) and explain your fiery passion about this one and only subject.

Okay Prophet I am going to oblige you. Here is a small sample of some of your posts. I will let others decide if you are not viscerally and emotionally upset about this topic.

“If I were an ED applicant I would ask to be released from binding decision to attend so that I could reconsider, that’s all. When someone sells you something based on false information, you have that right.” You were dialoguing with a CMC ED2 applicant.

These educators are the biggest sharks because they get away with passing off these high costs by acting as if they are working with the noblest of intentions.

The problem is that employers all across California are reading headlines today that they will not forget. “Oh yeah, wasn’t that the school that fudged the SAT numbers? Did you enjoy your time there?”

Have no worries. Blame will be assigned all on Vos. No one knew or could have known, they will say. That is how these things always end. Then all the parents can find contentment again and sign those checks!

Then another poster asked you this question (not me), “Prophet, are you a student or alum of one of the Claremont Colleges? Are you asserting that this misrepresentation in SAT reporting is unique to CMC, both historically and at present?” You answered, " I never asserted any such thing. That comment by you is a reach. I tend to look past the “but everyone else does it!” comments.

You have every right to post (please keep doing it), but it does seem strange how angry you are about this topic, considering you have never posted on CC before.

EastCoastBound, just so no one is confused that post I quoted by you in #256 was taken from another forum and directed at other posters, including students. Pot speak to Kettle.

I was just calling out another complainer on another thread. I mostly lurk, learn, and leave. Keep helping out your child’s school, but do it in more of a friendly/balanced way. I’m sure other alums aren’t psyched to have you trolling the CMC threads over the past 3 years. If CMC has a MOD on this board, I’m sure you’re their nightmare.

I wish all the best to CMC! The school will be fine, just wait for the next college scandal to pop up…

I’m still curious… how many schools out there are manipulating their SAT scores?? Any guesses?
