What are the strengths and weaknesses of Claremont, Santa Clara, and Occidental? Which college offers the most well rounded college experience (athletics, academics, social life, extracurriculars, career opportunities)? Which is the most diverse?

I think Claremont is considered the most prestigious, but aside from that are there qualitative differences between the three?

I visited a handful of friends from Oxy and I can tell you the vibe between Oxy and SCU are very, very different. It would be hard for me to even compare the two just because they are so different.

From what I gathered, both can offer you a very complete college experience. SCU’s campus is a little more sprawling in the sense that the few blocks surrounding campus are occupied by students. I didn’t personally see this at Oxy, making it feel a little less cohesive.

I think it is probably also safe to say that SCU kids do better career wise just because we have business and engineering schools. If you wanted to do a more accurate analysis, you’d have to compare SCU’s Arts & Sciences students to Oxy.

Have you visited? Try to spend more time on the campuses. You’ll get a better feel that way.
