CMC vs UCSD vs Swatty

Hello CC community!

I’m having a hard time deciding where to go to college. Can somebody help me out please?

I want to study Astrophysics and go on to an elite PhD program after I graduate only becuase finding a job with an Astrophysics PhD is INCREDIBLY difficult if you didnt go to an elite grad school.

Claremont Mckenna is nice because I can take classes at Harvey Mudd.
Swatty is nice because it has a reputation for getting students into good grad schools.
UCSD has better resources and research opportunites than the other two.

Also, Im a conservative with a southern mentality. Maybe CMC and Swatty wouldnt be a fit, culturally. Im not too worried about that because i dont even engage in political issues and that sorta stuff.

Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!

What about cost? Are you in state for UCSD? Is cost a considering factor?

Definitely CMC. Mudd has overall one of the best physics and engineering schools in america. For whatever profession you want, you will attain the most knowledge from CMC. Its also safer and smaller than UCSD allowing for better professor to student ratio and keep you protected no matter where u go around campus

@truefalse cost is not an issue

@HR1023 so when I go apply to say Harvard grad school for Astrophysics they won’t look at my app as lesser for not going to a school centered around science? Only because at CMC I have access to Harvey mudd? Thanks

Post #2, Claremont is not safer than La Jolla. I think it’s the opposite. Small nit.
