Hi, I'm currently a Junior in high school. I've taken communications technology courses throughout high school and I want to major in graphic design. My top school right now is Carnegie Mellon and I plan to apply for early decision - but i'm a little nervous about my chances. I'm certain that my design work is good enough for the school but my SAT score was only a 1750. However, I'm in the top 10% of my class and i'm involved in a lot of extracurricular activites. Will my SAT score drag down my chances? Or are they more lenient on SAT scores in the design program?

I’ve also taken 4 AP classes and plan to take 3 next year (Comp science, Lit., and Gov). I’m involved in my districts television channel as well. Other extracurriculars I do are: TSA (I won 3rd place in my state for promotional graphics this year) National Honors Society, Photography club, and I participate in student government. My GPA is a 4.8 (3.8 unweighted?) and I have a job. I’m doing a program this summer in New York for graphic design and it lasts a month.

help please

I’d really appreciate it

There is no formula for a good portfolio, it sort of one of those things where you just know a portfolio is strong. That being said, as an artist you should have a unique and clear voice…
