So funny as I have mentioned this somewhere previously that my son when he was working for a company before being funded at his own startup, used to do the interviewing and they often took a pass on the MIT graduates (no offense) for the exact reason you mentioned. While there is no doubt they are geniuses, they would be given a problem to solve and they were usually the ones that couldn’t solve it. However it is that they were taught there, it wasn’t the same way as some other schools, or maybe it’s just how analytical their minds are that they couldn’t take these problems and work them out. I was astonished when he told us this.
