CMU Interview: Appropriate Questions

Hello everyone,

I just contacted my CMU interviewer and we decided on a place to meet with no problem, but then he asked for my name, high school, address, and CMU college I’m interested in. Obviously the college interest is completely normal and the high school question isn’t out of the blue. Asking for my name wouldn’t bother me if I hadn’t stated it in my introduction email, but that is excusable. I’m mainly concerned about him asking for my address. Is it normal for an interviewer to ask this? Most colleges have a page where they say things like “your interviewer should never ask you personal questions etc. etc.” Maybe I’m being paranoid, but I would like someone else’s opinion before I continue.

Thank you!

this is the report interviewers have to fill out, so I assume he was just trying to cover all his bases. My interviewer didn’t ask me for my address or even my high school lol. Just tell him the other info and state that you are not comfortable with sharing your address, I’m sure he’ll understand

Ok, thanks for the reply. That’s what I assumed but it’s always nice to get another opinion.

The interviewee’s address is a required field the interviewer has to fill out in the online evaluation form. A little weird but that is a mandatory input data.
