CMU or RUTGERS?

hey guys.
what should i do??
CMU HSS or Rutgers? If i go to cmu, i'll graduate about 60K in debt. If i go to Rutgers, i'll graduate with a 15k debt. I decided i want to go to med school after i applied to hss so how difficult would it be for me to take those science courses? would i be at a disadvantage? i'm actually just scared about the debt because i want to go to med school right after college. i'll have a heavy undergrad debt and med school bills to pay. not worth it? but then again...cmu probably offers a better experience. gahh!

my dad is a professor at rutgers and he told me that recently $100,000,000 have been cut from rutgers so starting next week they're making students pay for the bus rides--about $2 a ride. if you've been to rutgers you probably know the campuses are nowhere near walking distance from each other and depending on the courses you take you may have to be at multiple campuses in a day. so from the financial aspect rutgers may become pretty icky too. i would look more at the academic aspect. i don't know if this helped but if it didn't sorry

ahhhh I can't believe this has turned into a rumor!

Lol I'm a student at Rutgers now. The whole story about paying for bus rides was printed in the joke targum, an issue that our newspaper runs every year. So no, we will not need to pay for bus rides any time soon.

In any case, the proposed budget cuts are serious business. I suggest going to www.rustudentrally.com and signing the petition, at the least.

But anyway-- I'm a pre-med at Rutgers and decided to pass down Northwestern, Hopkins, and Uva last year. So I guess you're in a somewhat similar position as I was last year. I haven't doubted my decision in the past-- are you in the honors program?? If so, I can tell you more about that as well.

We have very good pre-med advising here, and our grads have gone to the best med schools (harvard, stanford, etc.) So it's definitely possible to get a great education here and do well, it's just all up to you to take advantage of what's available. For me, it wasn't worth it to pay all that extra money to go to another school.

And also, impelin-- the campuses arent "nowhere" near walking distance. Of course, no one frequently walks between the campuses, but people do when it's nice out and it's somewhat common for people to bike between the campuses (espescially douglass and college ave, because the roads between the two can often be trafficky.)

That was just a minor point though. :)
