CMU or University of Washington?

I finally received my financial aid packages from both schools. I applied ED hoping to eek as much money as possible from CMU. However, I still received next to nothing. It means I would be leaving CMU with more debt than I can fathom. I've heard that the prestige of Carnegie and the high salary I will receive as a comp sci major might outweigh the problem of debt.

Going to the University of Washington would mean I could room with my best friend. And the thought of having to miss Bumbershoot (Seattle's music festival) almost breaks my heart. University of Washington is just such a huge school... I'm worried about feeling lost. And it's not nearly as prestigious.

So I have no idea.

Should I stay or should I go?

That's a hard call. Normally I would say CMU for undergrad because i think UW (been there too) is too big for undergrad. But......under the circumstances..its a tough call. CS is good at UW and Seattle definitely cool city. But CMU is similar in that way also. So.............cost? It sounds like you're in-state for UW? I have to say that I would probably end up letting the cost be the deciding factor if all other factors are equal and money is going to be an issue for your family. You should have to go in debt for college.
