I know CMU is more well known for its academics and is more competitive and harder to get into but UPitt has basically offered me a scholarship and a free application already.

In terms of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Engineering, which school is better? I only care about the academics here.

What can your parents afford? What’s the cost difference between CMU and UPitt? I know it sounds hard to believe but, for many practicing engineers, where they went to school makes not much difference, as long as the schools are ABET accredited.

If you can afford CMU/are willing to pay, I can see no reason why you wouldn’t. Pitt is comparable in chem I believe but nowhere close in any engineering.
