Hehe, I so suck at maps :D

i am incapable of multi tasking and am decent at maps. i feel manly.

as humans, we are more alike than different......

people often exxagerate the differences between the sexes

This may help explain why men tend to excel in tasks requiring more local processing, like mathematics

Gee, I guess there is now a vast academic conspiracy to support what the President of Harvard said about women and math.

oh come on, thinkingoutloud. everyone knows men (in general!!!!!) are better at math. and women are better at other things. there is no conspiracy.

I'm so ed off about how all feminist groups just start attacking any scientific study that somehow suggests women aren't as good at men at certain things. (I know this wasnt mentioned in the article but im *ed about it so im just gonna say some stuff). Instead of ****ing and moaning about studies or whatever, why don't you groups just shut up and accept it that maybe men ARE better at math and science than women. It's a scientific fact that overall men have more body mass than women and are taller (on the whole spectrum of the human race) - but these feminist groups don't whine at those studies. But God forbid suggest that a women is inferior to a men in some academic or intellectual way and a whole raucous starts. I accept that women are better motherly figures than men (it was made that way for a reason) and I accept that women can do some things better than I can do (and better than men in general). Do I start getting all whiney about it - no. All this political correctness crap has got to stop in our country because I'm sick and tired of it.

baller4lyfe, do you know how to read? The article says that men are better at spacial reasoning and women are better at vocabulary. So men are usually better at science, and women are usually better at using languages. No one said men or women are better overall thinkers.

There are countless examples of men and women being different. Women are better at dancing, men are better at lifting weights. Women are better mothers, men are better fathers. It goes on...

If you disagree, and think that every woman is as good as every man at everything she does (or the opposite, with genders switched), you may be a little low on the grey and white matter.

just as with racial differences there is more variation within the sex ( or race) than between the sexes ( or races)

However the only difference I will agree on is
men generally have more upper body strenght
women have a lower center of gravity
men have fewer connections between the left and right side of their brains making them more likely to be "black and white" thinkers
women have more interconnections between right and left sides of brains making them more "big picture" thinkers i.e. shades of gray.

Well I didn't expect such a pleased reaction, but I'm glad that you people have a sense of reason as well. Oh, and Schwaby, I hope not! - no Big Nurse's getting in my way!! (plug for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest - awesome book)

chalk, there is no way I am willing to believe that statement unless you can come up with some serious scholarly data to back up such an unusual opinion. It never ceases to amaze me what people will write on the internet and just expecte the rest of us to believe it! I would not surprise me if you tried to convince us that women are better at breast feeding. I won't fall for that one either.

"But women outshine men when it comes to vocabulary. In childhood, girls' vocabulary develops more quickly than that of boys; by adulthood, women can speak 20,000 to 25,000 words a day compared to a man's 7,000 to 10,000."

"Research" like this makes me glad I'm a math major.

"baller4lyfe, do you know how to read? The article says that men are better at spacial reasoning and women are better at vocabulary. So men are usually better at science, and women are usually better at using languages. No one said men or women are better overall thinkers."

Chalk, do you know how to communicate with people? Or do you just love being "out-there"?

Why not paraphrase that and make it: "baller4lyfe, did you read the article correctly?"

Apparently you are not capable of doing a normal exercise like this; I guess it's too burdensome for the likes of you.
