I have a few days to decide if i want to do co-op or internship. co-op is four-4 month work terms which alternate between work and school every four months, starting this summer. internship is a 1 year internship, which occurs between years 3-4. I am currently in year 2 or petroleum engineering.

which is better and why? from what I can tell co-op allows me to work at different companies, and try out different positions like drilling, reservoir etc.. but there is no guarantees, it just depends where i get hired on for. only the last term counts towards my p.engg.

internship I work for 1 company, in 1 position, like strictly drilling. there may be a chance that they move me around the company, maybe in the last month or something. It depends on the company. this whole year counts towards my p.engg.

my goal is to move to the US after I graduate. I am Canadian attending a Canadian university.

also what area of petroleum engineering will allow me to work 2 weeks on 2 weeks off, if there is such a thing for engineers?
