The race for the Superintendent's Trophy now stands tied at 4-4, with 5 events remaining.

The USCGA Bears have held the Trophy since it's inception, winning it 5 straight years over USMMA.

he he he he I know you love that... :)

what is there to know about Academy swimming? im a hardcore swimmer and waterpolo player... with my times right now as a junior i could easily be competitive in DIII swimming championships... will that boost my admissions chances?

and additionally ive been attempting to get into contact with the swim coach at the academy but he has never responded to his email?

Your best bet is to fill out an "Athletic Interest" form here:

Good Luck!

Our daughter received a conditional appointment to the Academy pending getting her medical papers in on time. She just completed her physical last week. She has been invited to the bean sprout overnight program?

What is that like? What will she do? She would like to visit the swim team and coach as that was her sport in high school.

They said to bring a sleeping bag. We are assuming she will use it on top of a bed or mattress so she plans on brining a blanket-type bag so it's not so cumbersome on the plane. Is that OK?

Bean sprouts follow around a cadet (last semester it was a 3/c, I think 4/c this semester) for 24 hours. She'll do everything the cadet does...wake up, go to class, go to trainings, go to sports practice, etc. She should have a chance to meet with the coach/team. The reason for sleeping bags is presumably because we were all issued sheets and comforters and it can get kind of cold here at night.

Luigi,
Are there cadets who participate in more than one sport?

Absolutely! You MUST participate in at least 2 of 3 "seasons" during each year (Fall/Winter/Spring) either in inter-company or intercollegiate Varsity sports.

Many cadets participate on two D3 intercollegiate teams.

One of the football team captains, an All-Division senior linebacker, is the starting 1st baseman on the baseball team, and I believe there are even 3 or four 4/c cadets (freshman) from the football team who are also on the baseball roster.

Thanks for the info. My son is interested in soccer and swimming. He has contacted the coaches who seem to be genuinely nice guys.
