I am an entering uva student and am attending one of the upcoming summer orientations to schedule classes. Are the class sizes and numbers of students occupying those classes true and up to date on the online COD b/c almost all of the classes i want to take are FULL. I'm kinda worried about it....

The COD is up to date to the time inscribed in the upper right corner. Sorry about your classes, but if you want them that badly just check every day and change them through ISIS.

I attended summer orientation on July 6 & 7. What they do, is open a few seats for the classes during each orientation session. Therefore, although the classes appear full, there will be some open seats when you register during orientation.

As far as checking everyday and adding your classes on ISIS -- this is not possible until it opens back up on August 4. This is what I was told and I also tried to do it w/o any success.

During orientation, the major compliant was that nobody could get the classes they wanted -- at least the desired time/day. But I guess this is to be expected since we are 1st year students. For me, I did not get ANY course I wanted on the day and/or time I wanted but that is okay. However, I really, really want to take Spanish and ALL courses were full (300 level). This was very disappointing but I am hoping that a seat opens up on August 4!

UVAcav1, As worldshopper said for many of the large intro courses they will open up slots throughout orientation. However, if you're looking for upper level courses, if they show full then they are full. As has been suggested if you keep trying to add on ISIS you will often get lucky. What courses are you looking at?

my top choices were: comm. 180, econ 201, span 201, calc. 132, enwr 110, a philosophy course-but all except calc. and enwr. seem to be full

You may not be able to get spanish, that's often difficult to get, however you should have no trouble with econ201 and comm180.

im clas and never got a cod and never knew i was suppose to get one until i just read the "what to bring to orientation" list. Im going to the last orientation, but i think its too late to request for one. Is the book the same as the cod online? I hope not because the cod online doesnt even have course descriptions and is rather confusing. Will i have time to go through course descriptions at orientation? I dont know what to do

You're thinking of the Undergraduate Record:

The COD is different:

thanks, just found it myself

thanks for the advice all!
