No, the not mentioning which school it is is out of respect for the school, not paranoia.

"... out of respect for the school..."

Now you're just being silly.

Actually, you can sometimes figure out who people are.

Coldfeet, check your PM and e-mail.

I'm going to guess Princeton or MIT? Those are the only two with different social tones. But Princeton is ED, so you would have been bound not to apply anywhere else.

S/he said it wasn't MIT.

Oh I didn't read the whole thread.

So it has to be S or H, and coldfeet, I know that we alumni can get pretty partisan around here sometimes, but for real, both Harvard and Stanford can withstand whatever potential dissing you're afraid to dish out, so I wouldn't worry.

My two cents: Stanford is significantly different from Yale, and merits some concern if what you like about Yale is the urban feel or residential life, while Harvard is extremely similar to Yale, three hours away, and I'd be very surprised if someone who was perfect for Yale could not be happy at Harvard.

Coldfeet, feeling uncertain of your college choice is normal. Don't base your feelings of uneasiness solely on chat rooms and message boards. In schools with several thousand students, the messages of 50 of them don't amount to much. Stanford isn't the same school as Yale but I think Stanford is implementing a residential college system and the weather is a heck of a lot better.

Try to have a positive attitude.
