Grinnell-crunchy future profs and non-profit workers.

Thank you for the reply! :)

Anybody else? :)

^^ Yep, sounds about right.
According to payscale data, Colgate has the 5th highest average mid-career salaries of any LAC (after Harvey Mudd, USNA, USMA, and Williams). Grinnell is number 60-something. On the other hand, Grinnell graduates have one of the highest rates of earned doctorates among LACs. Grinnell’s PhD production rate is about 25% higher than Colgate’s, even though Grinnell is a much smaller school.

Colgate fields 25 NCAA Division 1 varsity sports teams. Grinnell has 18 intercollegiate sports teams, all at the D3 level.

According to Washington Monthly’s 2012 college ranking, Colgate was 34th among LACs for alumni Peace Corps participation. Grinnell was 19th.

Grinnell’s endowment is more than twice as big as Colgate’s (again, despite Grinnell’s having about 40% fewer students.) About 36% of Colgate students receive need-based financial aid. More than 70% of Grinnell students do. Colgate does not offer merit scholarships. Nearly half of Grinnell students receive merit scholarships (averaging over $11K/year). 11% of Colgate students receive Pell grants; 20% of Grinnell students do.

^how “informative.” OP, you need to provide more information on what you’re looking for in a school.

I think that is fine if your goal is to be another country-clubber. If you want to go into something more cerebral or not so money motivated, Grinnell would win on all counts. Both town are equally small and isolated. At one drinking is the main entertainment–at the other other forms of substance abuse. Just totally different heads. I’d say the faculty and other resources are pretty equal.
