Colgate VS Carleton

Any thoughts one way or the other?

Well, you've found the one LAC arguably colder and more remote than Colgate.

It's smaller, 1800 vs 2700;
probably less sports oriented
probably artsy-er
probably less structured.

A whole lot cutsey-er. I can't imagine Colgate listing in the FAQ on it's website:

Frisbees per capita: 1.9

Flowers sold each week at Friday Flower market: 600

Cookies baked and consumed at Dacie Moses House: 700 per week (21,000 annually).

All in all, kinda reminds me of my daughter last year trying to choose between Colgate and Oberlin.

With two children attending or soon to attend these schools, it really comes down to your personal likes/dislikes. Both are WONDERFUL institutions. One child is very cerebral, activist, non-conformist type, the second is an avid sports fan, very easygoing and could blend in anywhere. Both are bright, motivated, and in love with their respective schools. What do the schools have in common? Warm, communicative, very personal touch throughout the admissions process and a good shot at a wonderful future for my kids due to their caring communities and great programs.
